We were on our Christmas/New Years trip in New York when Daniel popped the question! The original plan Daniel had in mind was to propose on Christmas Day, but the universe had a different plan as I spent the whole of Christmas Day stuck in the hotel room with food poisoning! So the very next day we had the day planned out with exploring New York, drinks at the Rainbow Room rooftop bar, followed by Phantom of The Opera on Broadway and a night trip to Central Park for a horse and carriage ride. This schedule meant that we were all leaving the hotel in the morning and not coming back until after Central Park. Daniel and Melinda (Kristy's Mum) conspired together and hid the ring in Melinda's bag for the whole day. Daniel spent the whole day suspiciously concerned about Melinda's whereabouts and safety as she was the keeper of the diamond! When we arrived at Central Park Daniel and I got in our carriage led by our horse Nick and my parents followed behind in their carriage. We stopped a couple of times along the ride to get out and look at particular spots in the park. The last stop we got told we could walk down and across the Bow Bridge (My favourite part of Central Park) We got down to the bridge and I was looking over the edge at the water. As I turned back around Daniel was down on one knee, holding open the box showing off the beautiful ring. Of course I said YES! I couldn't have been happier than I was at the moment. The man I couldn't imagine not having by my side was asking me to spend the rest of my life with him, my parents got to be there for that special moment and it happened in a place I only ever dreamed of going to.
