Wedding Party

Meet our friends and family, who are walking down the aisle with us!

Amber Snedegar

Maid of Honor

I hardly remember a time Kristine hasn't been a part of my life. Outside of my immediate family, she is the one person who has been a part of my life the longest. Just as we walked over a little bridge to graduate from Daises to Brownies in elementary school (it's a Girl Scouts thing), we have walked over many of life's bridges (and through some tunnels, too). I could not have asked for a better friend to journey life with. Now, she comes to a new bridge, and I cannot wait to celebrate this new journey Kristine is about to embark on.

Brett Barnes

Best Man

Brett and Dave have known each other their whole lives having grown up as cousins and close friends. Their relationship nearly took a turn for the worse when Brett unknowingly handed Dave the opportunity to play "The Grand Prize Game" on the Bozo Show, but they managed to reconcile. Over the years, Brett has been dependable, loyal, and genuine in Dave's life during times both good and bad, and is looking forward to being Best Man at his wedding.

Katie Middlemiss

Bridesmaid

Katie and Kristine met when their parents brought Kristine home from the hospital on Katie's 2nd birthday. Kristine, who was in the baby carrier and about the size of Katie's dolls at the time, was assumed by Katie to be a birthday present. Alas, that illusion was quickly shattered. Katie was consoled by the fact that she had a new sister to play and do life with, from that point forward, and Kristine gained a lifelong friend as well.

Steve Diver

Groomsman

I am Dave’s organic chemistry colleague at UB. I’ve taken Dave on runs, bike rides and hiking trips!! Atop Ampersand Mountain (not a high peak!) in the ADKs (July 2021)

Briann Barnes

Bridesmaid

Briann and Kristine met as kids through Amber Snedegar. Once Briann and Kristine were acquainted, the friendship grew naturally into the kind where inside jokes, awkward adolescent stories, and trusted secrets collected and coalesced into a lifelong bond. Through the years, Briann and Kristine shared everything from annual birthday celebrations and trips (with their birthdays being one week apart) to living space (post college) and the experience of becoming aunts for the first time. In fact, Kristine has Briann to thank for she and Dave getting together. Briann found her true love, Brett, in Dave's cousin, which gave Kristine and Dave the opportunity to meet and fall in love. Huzzah!

Sean Kreymborg

Groomsman

Classmates from preschool to 8th grade, Sean and Dave have been close friends for 35+ years! Despite all of the twists and turns of life, they talk most weeks and have been in lockstep for their whole lives. From Mr. Knuth's number scrolls, the 8th grade basketball team, video games (Civilization, Goldeneye), long meandering walks all over Chicago, Sean has always enjoyed reminiscing about (very inside) childhood memories and a steady commitment to advocating for each others happiness over the years.

Lauren Frey

Bridesmaid

Kristine and I met back in the fall of 2016 at a small group that wasn’t so small, through our church. We both started at the same time and didn’t know many people. From then, we have always been friends. It was totally a God thing. I’ve leaned on her so hard in the last 8 years, and she has been such a true, lifelong friend. It’s my honor to be her bridesmaid and celebrate one of the most important days of her life!

Jim Puls

Groomsman

A fellow native of Chicago’s North Side, it took until Jim walked into a church in Palo Alto, California in November 2008 where Dave was singing in the choir for them to meet. Jim has spent the 15-plus years since considering Dave to be one of his greatest friends in the whole world.

Sarah Fawcett

Bridesmaid

Sarah and Kristine met through a large, young adult small group at church in Columbus, OH. In the 8 years they've been friends, they've supported and encouraged each other in their walks with Christ and key life milestones. They've gone from single women who shared a passion for service and God to women who can now also share those passions with life partners only God could have dreamt for them. They share the ability to "tell it like it is" in their friendship, with humor and love, and the laughter and memories just keep growing!

Ryan Cowley

Groomsman

Ryan and Dave worked in the same research lab at Stanford, where they discovered they shared interests, senses of humor, and middle names. They spent most of their time at Stanford generating obscure chemistry memes, Photoshopping cats and dinosaurs, and watching David Rudisha win the 800m run at the 2012 Olympics.

Kelsey Stamey

Bridesmaid

Kelsey and Kristine were serendipitously assigned to the same English class in junior high school. In class, they realized they already shared mutual interests and friends. A memorable partner project happened that year for a unit on the Battle of Hastings, in which the girls were tasked with creating a drawing of Earl Leofwine Godwinson. They bonded over their appalling lack of artistic skills and laughed over whether their drawing more closely resembled a fruit or a giraffe — and thus a friendship was born. Over the years, Kristine and Kelsey shared many adventures, from math homework agony to water balloon battles. The girls gleefully sassed high school boys and commiserated over being grounded a lot. They maintained their friendship through college and were lucky enough to live together for a short time after graduating. Kristine taught Kelsey about cooking, and Kelsey taught Kristine about recycling, and they took great joy in the fact that their similar clothes sizes made for a shared closet twice its original size. More recently, they’ve been separated geographically and by adult responsibilities, but the bond remains steadfast — and is fed by regular travel adventures (Seattle, Savannah, Asheville, oh my) and years and years of treasured memories.

David Lacy

Groomsman

My introduction to Dave is quite memorable. It was the first day of his interview at UB, which happens to fall on my birthday and the 5th year anniversary of my UB interview. While dining at an Italian restaurant, Dave's brand-new pea coat was stolen! Since then we've bonded over that memory and discussing the latest chemistry news and the professor life over weekly coffee adventures.
