Like many millennials, we met online. Thrilling, we know. For anyone that knows either of us, historically both of us have always been huge on asking would you rather questions, or just incessantly asking questions (Jess). Brian began a conversation by asking, "If you had to choose between getting 1,000,000 free flight miles to anywhere in the world, along with 100 free nights in hotels OR a 5 days trip up to the International Space Station, which would you pick?" (Yes, obviously Jess still has this conversation saved). Since then, we have been asking each other non-stop questions until a more important one came up...
Since we moved in together we talked about getting a dog as soon as we found a place that allowed pets. When we started house hunting in 2017, Brian had his sights set on incorporating a pup into the proposal somehow. Leading up to July, Brian had been planning for months with Jess' best friend to fly in from LA for the proposal. The week of, he spent hours going to different shelters and rescues until he landed on the most perfect and cute dog in the universe, Charlee (we may be biased, but if you met her we think you'd agree). Having to wait until the perfect moment, Brian's parents housed her temporarily. With all the big things set in place, Brian asked his sister to invite us to brunch as a ruse to get us out of our house. Enter Sam and another friend, Ari, who picked up the dog, and then set up the whole scene... Waiting for us as we returned from brunch was our living room set up with a plethora of flowers, our song playing, two of Jess' best friends hovering in our hallway and of course, Charlee. In a state of shock, all Jess could eloquently say was, "What the hell?". Brian got down on one knee, Jess cried a lot, Brian may have even shed a tear, and that was the beginning of our little family.
