Matron of Honor
Becky is Sarah's oldest sister. She hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro and encouraged Sarah to hike the Salkantay trail in Peru. Over the years, she has been there with honest advice on life, someone to look up to who has been through it before. Whether it be interning at the Clinton Foundation, volunteering in Tanzania for Engineers Without Borders, or farming for a season at an Organic Herb Farm in rural PA, Becky is driven to continually grow and challenge herself. Not only is she an expert proof-reader, she is a loving wife, mother and a supportive friend.
Matron of Honor
Sarah and Allie spent most of one summer camping in a tent in the backyard just because they could. Allie, Sarah's younger sister, convinced her to sign up for the Pierogi 5k, Sarah's first race, which inspired her to start running longer distances. Having just completed her BME PhD in Spinal Cord Research at Northwestern University, Allie has always been very driven and focused to make the world better. Sarah enjoys visiting Allie, her husband Jack, and their 2 cats in Chicago whenever she can.
Bridesmaid
They met in 5th grade and have been friends ever since. Whether it be harmonizing together to Wicked, sledding at Hinckley Lake, or eating delicious food along Newbury Street in Boston, Allison has always been a close friend. An ambitious entrepreneur, Allison has her own wedding photography business and started a second business, Wander Plant Pots during COVID. Allison radiates an artistic, creative and funny spirit that is contagious.
Bridesmaid
Sarah and Lydia met while rock climbing. They were both looking for a place to live, so they decided to take a chance and move in together. Needless to say, Bert and Ernie were born, and they had an amazing 4 years filled with runs to Barrio tacos and last minute Pinterest inspired dinners for two. Both enjoy cooking together and walking their dogs in the park. Lydia has been there for Sarah as a great listener, and a caring, supportive friend.
Best Man
Scott is Matthew's younger brother. While growing up together, Matthew and Scott bonded over swimming for the same teams, climbing the ranks of Boy Scout Troop 1313, and playing their favorite Blizzard video games. Nowadays, when they get the opportunity to visit each other, the two brothers enjoy visiting local climbing gyms, hitting up breweries, and running the occasional weekend race. Conveniently enough, these are all activities that Sarah enjoys too, and Scott has also gotten the chance to know her better during these shenanigans.
Groomsman
It is hard for Jeff to remember a time before Badgett. After meeting in Mrs. Armstrong's third grade class, they became best friends. Despite going to different high schools, Matthew spent so much time at Casa de DePaso that even Beth says it is his home. Attending William & Mary together, Jeff and Badgett got up to all sorts of tomfoolery- Game of Thrones cooking competitions, shots-brauts-and-tater-tots, and plenty of road trips. Jeff holds down the fort in DC and always looks forward to Badgett & Sarah's visits with Roxi.
Groomsman
Varun met both Matt and Sarah at a local run group called Run Wild CLE. With similar running goals and interests, Matt and Varun found themselves training for both the Cleveland and Boston marathons together. In their natural habitat, they are often found grabbing brews, trying Ethiopian food, or running miles together. They enjoy bantering nonsensically about topics such as the state of world affairs, social inequities, medical education, and where you can find the comfiest vegan shoes.
Groomsman
The Matts met in medical school and of course bonded quickly over their shared zeal for physical activity. Rain or shine, heat wave, blizzard or hurricane, they pounded the Norfolk pavement in the wee hours of the morning, all the while chatting about life, love, and often the purported benefits of Badgett's latest food-related escapade. Badgett is credited with having introduced Matt VW to his now wife, Bonny, who was one of Badgett's roommates during med school. Even though residency has separated them by distance, the Matts still find time to visit when they can, and regale themselves with the stories of whiskey-runs, flood-swims, and risk-games that only true friendship provides.
