On a hot night at Shooters II in Durham, NC, Kendal found relief from the heat by standing near an industrial fan. Ryan was immediately captivated by Kendal's beauty and decided to introduce himself. Fast forward to the end of the night, Kendal slid into Ryan's Instagram DMs and they arranged their first date. From that moment on, their love story began to unfold.

While in Durham, NC roughly a week before the 4 year anniversary of their first date, Ryan suggested heading out for a date night with Kendal. The plan was to visit Cameron Indoor for a quick tour to "see some changes to the facility" before dinner. As they waited for their guide, Zach Marcus, they stumbled upon two men taking pictures of a basketball shoe. And, much to Kendal's excitement, the shoe belonged to none other than the famous Jayson Tatum. As they were taking in the sight, Ryan suggested they make a half-court shot. "You shoot your shot then I'll shoot mine", Ryan said with a wink. Kendal, eager to impress, took off her heels and attempted the shot, but to her dismay, it was an airball. As she turned around, she saw Ryan on one knee at center court, holding a ring box. Overwhelmed with emotion, Kendal said yes and now here we are.
