Driving

If you are driving distance from the Outer Banks, driving down (whether in your own car or a rental) is highly encouraged. The drive from NYC is 7.5-8 hours door to door (leave at the right time!) and it will give you the most freedom once you're down here!

Norfolk, VA (ORF)

Norfolk is the nearest airport and is approximately 1 hour 45 mins from Corolla. We highly recommend getting a rental car once you arrive as Ubers/Lyfts are limited on the island. However, you can arrange shuttle service from the airport to the beach via coastalcab.com Breeze Airways now offers direct flights to Norfolk, Raleigh, and Richmond for super cheap from select cities (LA, SF, etc.). Check them out!

Raleigh, NC (RDU)

If you are looking for a direct flight (particularly from the West Coast), Raleigh is the closest major airport with many direct flight options to major cities. A rental car is required as it will be ~4 hour drive to the Outer Banks (but it's an easy one, we promise!)

Richmond is ~3 hour drive to Duck, NC and may be good to check for flight options (check Breeze Airways)

This is our recommended hotel as it is centrally located for all the wedding festivities, between Duck (welcome party location) and Corolla (wedding location). While it is not 5 star by any means, it's beachfront and has a pool! This large inn is located on The Sound but also has a shuttle to a beachfront area. While rooms aren't "fancy", it's a good option that is close to the wedding venue. The hotel includes a pool, a backyard nature trail, free bikes, and access to everything located within the Corolla Light Resort - five additional pools, an indoor gym, tennis courts, and Pickleball courts. Located walking distance from the wedding venue, this is a very charming, higher end inn. This is not for groups looking for late night parties etc. but a lovely spot. It is very small so please book ASAP.

Sanderling Resort

The Sanderling is the higher end hotel option in the area (albeit overpriced IMO lol). The resort is beautiful and allows you to access both the beach and the Sound. It is about 20 minutes from the wedding venue and very close to the welcome party location.

HOUSE/TOWNHOME RENTALS: If you're looking to book with a group, this is a great website to access house options from multiple rental companies, all in the Corolla area. All of these require a 7-night rental, however it may end up being cheaper than multiple hotel rooms for a long weekend (depending on your group size).

Twiddy & Company Vacation Rentals

HOUSE/TOWNHOME RENTALS: If you're looking to book with a group, this is a great rental company in the Outer Banks - with homes in Corolla and Duck. All of these require a 7-night rental, however it may end up being cheaper than multiple hotel rooms for a long weekend (depending on your group size). Make sure you do a Sunday check-in/out. Other rental companies to consider: Corolla Classic Vacations, Southern Shores Realty, Brindley Beach, etc.

AirBnb & Vrbo

HOUSE/TOWNHOME RENTALS: Airbnb & Vrbo have a selection of townhomes/condos/homes for rent and can be super cost effective for groups staying together. While the inventory is limited, they offer shorter stay windows than the traditional Outer Banks rental companies. We HIGHLY recommend you do not rent anything south of Duck, unless you have a designated driver who can drive you home safely after the wedding. Please book this early!
