Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Kelsey Kirkpatrick and Bo Kane
In addition to the beautiful beaches, there are tons of other great things-to-do in the Outer Banks! Below are some recommendations for site-seeing, restaurants, and activities to consider while you're in town! Fun Fact: Kelsey has been coming to the Outer Banks every summer since she was born, and since her parents retired here and moved from California, it's now officially "going home." Bo ALSO visited different parts of the Outer Banks multiple times with his family growing up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina - and even did a camping trip with friends here the summer before he met Kelsey. Plus, his sister Kendall spent time working in the OBX as a National Park Ranger! Invisible String, if you ask me. :-)
The Currituck Club (Golf)

The Currituck Club (Golf)

620 Currituck Clubhouse Drive, Corolla, NC 27927

Any golfers coming to the Wedding? Shone Kirkpatrick (Father-of-the-Bride), would LOVE to arrange for a group(s) to play golf at his favorite course, The Currituck Club. Located in Corolla, it is a really pretty course that runs right along the Sound for several holes. Please contact Kelsey (kelseykirkpatrick2@gmail.com) if you're interested in joining any day that week (except Saturday!)

Wright Brothers National Memorial

Wright Brothers National Memorial

1000 North Croatan Highway, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948

Any history buffs must visit the place where human beings took their very First Flight! It's located about 30 mins south in Kitty Hawk, and there's both a museum and memorial.

Currituck Beach Lighthouse

Currituck Beach Lighthouse

1101 Corolla Village Road, Corolla, NC 27927

This lighthouse was built in 1875 and makes for a good photo opp - plus you can climb to the top if you want to get those steps in! The lighthouse is right next to the wedding venue, so recommend you don't stray too far away and get a sneak peek!

Wild Horse Adventure Tours

Wild Horse Adventure Tours

610 Currituck Clubhouse Drive, Corolla, NC 27927

Did you know the Outer Banks is home to Wild Horses? Book a tour or take a 4×4 off-road vehicle on the beaches 5-10 minutes north of Corolla, and maybe you'll get lucky enough to see them!

Jockey's Ridge State Park

Jockey's Ridge State Park

300 West Carolista Drive, Nags Head, NC 27959

Jockey's Ridge is largest living sand dune system on the Atlantic. It's also known as a great spot for hang gliding, should that be something your adventurous heart desires. Fun fact: Kendall (Bo's sister) worked here as a Park Ranger, so ask her for her insider tips!

Art's Place

Art's Place

4624 North Virginia Dare Trail, Kitty Hawk, NC 27949

Want the most delicious, mouth-watering burger in Eastern NC? Check out Art's. It's a local hangout that has AMAZING food and plenty of outdoor seating. Kelsey even rates it as one of her favorite burgers of all-time! Art's is about a 30 minute drive South on the main beach road, but it's a perfect pit stop once you cross the bridge into the Outer Banks.

The Paper Canoe

The Paper Canoe

1564 Duck Road, Duck, NC 27949

This is probably our favorite upscale restaurant in the Outer Banks. They have fantastic food and a beautiful setting where you get to eat with views of the Sound at sunset. Make sure to book a reservation early!

Duck Donuts

Duck Donuts

603D Currituck Clubhouse Drive, Corolla, NC 27927

These donuts are pretty freaking tasty - especially if you get them right out of the oven! Their donuts went viral, leading them to sell-out and open locations in bougie cities across the U.S. But you can still visit their very first shop, right here in Duck, or check out the one in Corolla if that's closer!

Treehouse Cafe & Coffee

Treehouse Cafe & Coffee

1177 Duck Road, Duck, NC 27949

Treehouse is our favorite local coffee shop and they also serve DELICOUS breakfast/brunch! Bo strongly recommends the Huevos Rancheros burrito!

Sundogs Raw Bar & Grill

Sundogs Raw Bar & Grill

807 Ocean Trail, Corolla, NC 27927

Over favorite late-night dive with cheap drinks, very fried food, and questionable company. Fun fact: The patrons at Sundogs have had to bare witness to multiple Kelsey-giggle-fits while she was performing onstage doing karaoke. This marks my formal apology to Had, Em, Rach, Brooke and my many other innocent accomplices over the years.

NC Coast Grill & Bar

NC Coast Grill & Bar

1184 Duck Road, Duck, NC 27949

NC Coast is a seafood restaurant right on the Sound. It's walking distance from the Welcome Party location so could be a good option for dinner on Friday evening.

AQUA Restaurant

AQUA Restaurant

Duck, NC 27949

If you're looking for a place to have dinner on the water before the Welcome Party, Aqua is a good option. They have live music, etc.

The Corolla Beer Garden

The Corolla Beer Garden

1148 Ocean Trail, Corolla, NC 27927

This is a super cute place to grab a beer outside under a bunch of Oak trees.

Village Yoga

Village Yoga

1240 Duck Road, Duck, NC 27949

Check out the Nancy's (Mother-of-the-bride) favorite local yoga studio! It's a beautiful space with lovely instructors, located in the heart of Duck. Fun Fact: Nancy may or may not be featured in their promotional photography (also featured in the thumbnail here lol).

Timbuck II Shopping Village

Timbuck II Shopping Village

785 Sunset Boulevard, Corolla, NC 27927

Tim Buck II is probably your best bet in Corolla if you're looking for cute shopping. There's are lots of different shops and restaurants, plus they also have mini-golf and go-karting. Fun fact: Kelsey and her bff Emily went on a double-date (at least we thought it was) here with two "hunnies" they (miraculously) met on the beach as awkward teens. Spoiler alert - sparks did not fly.

Scarborough Faire Shopping Village

Scarborough Faire Shopping Village

1177 Duck Road, Duck, NC 27949

If you're looking for a super cute shopping area in Duck, this is probably our favorite spot! Treehouse Coffee is also located in this large upgraded strip mall. Fun fact: Kelsey spent her life thinking Simon and Garfunkel's hit song "Scarborough Fair" was named after this random shopping center

The Waterfront Shops

The Waterfront Shops

1240 Duck Road, Duck, NC 27949

This a cute shopping center overlooking The Sound in Duck.

Corolla Watersports

Corolla Watersports

798K Sunset Boulevard, Corolla, NC 27927

Great place to rent kayaks, jet skis, or pontoon boats to take on the Sound!

For all the days along the way
