The Rail Trail stretches from Uptown through South End. It's a nice path to walk and check out all the shops, art, restaurants, bars, and more along the way! The light rail (mini train) runs along the trail and is a good option to use for transportation throughout the weekend. See the link below for information for the 501 Lynx Blue Ride.
Outdoor recreation center with a variety of activities (hiking, whitewater rafting, yoga, ropes courses, and more!). There is also a bar, restaurant, and outside stage. We love visiting the center and spending time walking around, participating in a yoga class, or listening to music if there is performer! There is a $12 parking fee when you visit the center, and prices for other activities vary - check out their website for more information.
Crowders Mountain is Sam and Kelly's favorite hike just outside the city. It is about a 40 minute drive, you will need a car to get there.
The couple is taking after the MOB (i.e. Tellico Village top pickle-baller) as they enjoy playing pickleball with friends and family! Rally is the spot for it - it's a big bar with inside and outdoor pickleball courts. Check out their website to book a court!
Quail Hollow Golf Club in South Charlotte is hosting the Wells Fargo Championship, a signature PGA Tour event, this year from May 6th - 12th. It would be a fun event to check out before, after, or in between the wedding festivities! Check out the website for information on timing, transportation, tickets and more.
For any Nascar or racing fans out there, check out the Nascar Hall of Fame! With the Charlotte Motor Speedway just outside the city that hosts two Nascar races every year, the Queen City is known for Nascar! Sam and Kelly have tailgated and attended a few races since they moved... it's quite the scene!
Also known as the "French Quarter", located in the heart of downtown, this indoor and outdoor passageway features various small shops, restaurants, and bars. Very popular before Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC games!
Camp North End's a renovated industrial complex with food stalls, bars, public art, and various shops. Some of our favorites here are Leah and Louise, Hex Coffee and Natural Wines, and Room Service!
Lake Norman is a lake just 25 minutes from the city. There are options to rent a boat (or other water activities), visit restaurants on the lake, and other outdoor beaches and trails to explore. Looking for a nice park to walk around and get some exercise? Freedom Park, not far from Uptown and South End, is the perfect spot! There's greenery and paths surrounding a lake, and even a playground for any kiddos. With the great scenery, Sam and Kelly enjoy picnicking in the park. And they even took some of their engagement photos at Freedom Park!
