When they are not cooped up inside to avoid the pandemic, Brett and Kristin spend their weekends exploring different seaside destinations across New England- always looking for the best fried clams for Brett, the best ice cream shop for Kristin and a stunning view. One such trip prior to the pandemic included a weekend getaway to the Cape where Brett coordinated their route to ensure they stopped at the most famous Cape Cod lighthouses. The Proposal: It all happened in June of 2020. One Sunday, Kristin thought they were going to hang out with Paige at the marina in Newbury. But Brett actually took her to Newburyport. As soon as they pulled up to the lighthouse in the center of town, Kristin knew something was up. They met with the historic lighthouse preservation society liaison. After he explained all of the rules and the history of the lighthouse, which felt like forever given the circumstances, he left them alone just in time for sunset. As they saw the colors change outside, 53 feet above the town, Brett got on a knee, speech prepared, asking her to marry him. She said, "yes," of course. He then pulled out his surprise picnic supplies (including wine!), and they enjoyed the ocean view together.
