Napa is about 1.5–2 hours from SFO, OAK, or SMF airports. Renting a car is the easiest option, but you can also use Turo or arrange a private shuttle. Rideshares like Uber or Lyft are available but can be limited, especially at night. If you’re planning to visit wineries or explore nearby towns, having your own car will give you more flexibility.
Yes! Shuttle transportation will be provided to and from the wedding. Shuttle pickups will occur at each of the hotels where we have reserved room blocks, as well as one additional pickup location in St. Helena. If you’re booking your own accommodations, we recommend staying near those hotels so it’s easy to access the shuttle service. More detailed shuttle info will be shared closer to the wedding!
Yes, you’ll likely need a car—especially if you plan to visit wineries or explore the area. Uber and Lyft are limited in Napa Valley and cannot reach our ceremony site on Howell Mountain. If you take a rideshare there, you will not be able to get back, which is why we are providing shuttle service to and from the wedding for guests staying at our hotel blocks. We recommend renting a car or sharing one with friends for the rest of your trip.
Napa Valley runs north to south with towns like Napa, Yountville, Rutherford, St. Helena, and Calistoga. We live in St. Helena, the ceremony will be on Howell Mountain (about 15 minutes away), and the reception is in Yountville (about 30–35 minutes from the ceremony site). Napa town is the most walkable, but for the full wine country experience, explore up-valley where the vineyards and views are.
Our dress code is California chic—elevated but relaxed. Long, short, or midi dresses are all welcome! The ceremony will be held on grass with red clay paths, so think block heels, wedges, or flats. For the guys, a coat and tie is the goal—you’ll be most comfortable and dressed for the setting. Daytime will likely be warm and evenings cooler, so layers are your friend. Above all, dress to feel good and celebrate in style.
October is one of the most beautiful times to visit Napa Valley! Expect sunny days in the 70s and cool evenings in the 50s. It’s harvest season, so the vineyards are buzzing and the air smells like fermentation—it’s magical. Wearing layers will be your best friend, especially as temps can drop quickly once the sun sets.
If you love Cabernet Sauvignon, you’re in the perfect place—Napa Valley is famous for it! For bold, iconic Cabs, visit Rutherford, Stags Leap District, Oakville, and Howell Mountain (where our ceremony is!). For Chardonnay lovers, head to Carneros or Oak Knoll. If you’re into Pinot Noir or sparkling wines, Carneros is also a great spot. You’ll find Zinfandel and Sauvignon Blanc in Calistoga. Want to know our favorite places? Check out the “Things to Do” page on our website for all our recs!
Great idea! Sonoma is just 30–45 minutes from Napa, depending on where you're headed. It’s more relaxed and spacious, with amazing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Zinfandel. Be sure to check out Healdsburg, Sonoma Plaza, and Russian River Valley for cool-climate wines. Spence makes a beautiful Pinot Noir from Russian River, so we’re a little biased—but it’s totally worth a visit if you want to explore beyond Napa!
