Derrick and I have known each other for 12 years now. We met in the seventh grade at Haynes Academy for Advanced Studies, and have always been the best of friends. Years later we both ended up attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to pursue our dream careers. It was there that we ended up expressing our feelings for one another. Now after two amazing years together we have the honor and privilege of becoming one before God and the people we love. We pray that in this next phase of our lives that God is glorified and that we would emulate Christ and the church.

May 30, 2021 After a long and difficult semester of nursing school, Derrick offered to take me to the beach. My sister, Keristen, her boyfriend, Keyshawn, Derrick, and I all decided to take a trip to Miami to tour and go to the beach. We decided to go to dinner at a restaurant on the beach and take pictures at sunset. However, Derrick had other plans. As I was getting my camera ready to take pictures. Derrick saw his chance to get on one knee. I was beyond confused…until he pulled out the ring! With a heartfelt speech and sweet smile he asked me to marry him. 🤎
