Our proposal took a lot of behind-the-scenes work from Luke and our close friends. We traveled across seas to beautiful Barcelona, Spain. I had been taking the reins on planning this trip, but little did I know, Luke had something much bigger up his sleeve. I have dreamed for as long as I can remember of riding a hot air balloon. When searching for “must-do activities in Barcelona,” I stumbled across hot air balloon rides. I lit up instantly — running to tell Luke what I had found for us to do. Life instantly drained from his face….he HATES heights. After much begging, Luke agreed to go on this ride with me. Fast forward several months later, we are in beautiful Barcelona. After much miscommunication and language barrier complications, we made it to our hot air balloon take off point. Many of our friends and Luke are getting VERY nervous at this point. These balloons are massive, like the height of a six-floor building MASSIVE. We finally get to board our basket, and the nerves set in for me and everyone aboard. We start soaring….and soaring….and soaring even higher. We really did not think this balloon was going to stop going higher. We saw the city from the highest points, until we quite literally, reached the clouds. Soaring through the clouds looked as if we were floating with four white walls around us. We couldn’t see anything! Once we surpassed the clouds, it looked like we were in heaven. Sitting at over 3,000 feet in the sky. The sun was rising, we were above the clouds, and the views were the most amazing thing we EVER saw. I was in Spain, on top of the clouds, with the love of my life, and some of my best friends in the world — nothing was more spectacular than that feeling. As we made our descent, over breathtaking fields of green, Luke CAREFULLY made his way to my end of the basket, dropped down on one knee, and asked me to be his wife. With many tears and moments of disbelief, I said “YES” to forever. Luke had been planning along side our friends. There were months of planning and scheming going on under my own nose. I can say, I was truly shocked. Now, I am forever soaring with the love of my life.
