A great indoor/outdoor space for those interested in self-guided tours of local and national art exhibits. We highly recommend bringing your favorite snack, book, and blanket, and spending time out back on their lawn.

The location of our first date! Perfect for picnics. A great place for those looking to get outside to see the Italian and Japanese Gardens, petting-zoo, and visit the Mansion!
Carytown
Perfect for an afternoon walk boutique shopping, antique/thrift hunting, and dining. Carytown is full of locally-owned small businesses that are happy to welcome guests from all over.
Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden
Lewis Ginter boasts fine gardens and is ideal for a late morning/early afternoon stroll. Maddison's sister, and bridesmaid, Morgan Leigh was married here in May 2022!
Canal Walk & Brown's Island
August has been on many walks here. Walk on a bridge over the James, relax by the canal at Brown's Island, or feed the nearby geese! Or bring a blanket to wrap up under and sit on one of the bridge's benches to watch the James river flowing beneath you.
