It was a kiss on the first date, “I love you” in the first month, and “will you marry me?” in the first year. For Kayla and Colin, the love they found never felt too quick. Instead, the decision to spend their lives together couldn’t have been easier and could not come soon enough. Their first date strolling down the river walk in Chicago left them inseparable. They quickly realized that they shared the same sense of humor, filling their early days with comfort, laughter and happiness. When they weren’t at work together, their downtime was spent in their perfectly extroverted introvert way: happily entertaining each other, listening to old records, watching movies, talking about the Beatles, and chasing one another around the apartment, yelling and laughing with no one around but themselves. The feeling of meeting “the one” was there from the start. It was the realization that, “it’s you. It’s always been you, and I’m so happy that we finally found each other.” Shortly after their time in Chicago ended, Colin and Kayla moved back to New York City, where they would share the incredible experience of making their Broadway debuts together. With her cat, Paw McCatney there to welcome them home each night, the life they always dreamed of began to take shape. It was the perfect partner in the perfect place at the perfect time in their lives. On October 3rd, 2022, Colin knelt down right there in the living room- the place where they had laughed so much, listened to so many records, held each other, entertained each other- and with tears in his eyes and Paw as his witness, asked Kayla to be his wife. With her reply of “absolutely,” they both felt the truth in what they had always known: that Kayla Pecchioni and Colin Barkell were meant to find each other and were meant to live their lives together.
