Katie had moved to Edinburgh, Scotland on secondment with her work in August 2015. She moved into a flat with 5 flatmates, and a new Scottish one named Ross moved in during February 2016. During a party at the flat, Katie met Ross’ best friend Scott. He was sitting at the kitchen table near the beginning of the party; they shook hands and Katie stood and chatted with him for a fair while, both smiling and laughing away. Neither remember exactly what they chatted about during that first conversation, but funnily both remember everything else about it vividly, and both recall walking away from it thinking what a lovely person the other one seemed, and what a lovely smile the other one had. The two often saw each other on group nights out and other such events, but they didn’t get to know each other one on one until about a year and a half later, towards the end of Katie’s secondment in 2017. It was a day where they found themselves talking and laughing away for hours and hours, enjoying each other’s company so much that Katie didn’t want to leave - so much so that she nearly missed her flight. After that, with Katie in Boston and Scott in Glasgow, a romance launched across the sea. There was many a visit and a hundred times more video calls, email letters and messages. The two went 8 months long distance until June 2018 when they spent three months traveling together through Europe and America, after which Katie & Scott moved back to Edinburgh together. They are excited to spend their lives with one another and to celebrate their union with family and friends in February!
