Downtown Frederick is a very historic area and has a lot of fun shops and restaurants. Black Hog BBQ is a Spencer family favorite, and It has Mark’s stamp of approval as well. Flying Dog Brewery is nice with a great outdoor space. Attaboy Beer is another local brewery.
Washington, DC is a great place to visit. Most museums are free of charge, but some require advanced tickets to get in. National History Museum, the National Zoo, and the Air and Space museum are some personal favorites.
Baltimore is full of things to see and do including the National Aquarium, Edgar Allen Poe House, and Federal Hill.

Gettysburg, PA is about a 45 minute drive from Frederick, MD. Worth a visit if you love civil war era history. If you’re interested in staying there, it’s about 30 minutes to the venue.
