Travel Note
You may notice as you're looking for travel recommendations that some of India's cities are known by two names (Example: Bangalore = Bengaluru, Mysore = Mysuru). The renaming of cities in India started in 1947 following the end of the British Imperial Period. These cities have been renamed to better reflect their native pronunciation or to reject the Anglicized spelling of names from British colonial rule. During your travels, you should be able to locate or identify a place based on either name.
Flight
You will likely want to fly into Bengaluru International Airport (BLR). From there, you can either book a domestic Indian flight to Mysore, or we can arrange transportation by car from Bangalore to Mysore. Tanush and Kara will be arriving in Bangalore on Sunday, Feb. 9th and will stay there for a few days prior to traveling to Mysore. We will fly from Boston to Bangalore, and will likely take either Qatar or Etihad Airways through Doha or Abu Dhabi. Once we've booked our flights, we can keep folks updated!
Flight
IndiGo offers domestic flights within India, including from Bangalore to Mysore, but they are not direct. You can use IndiGo, Spice Jet, or any other domestic airlines during your trip. However, we will plan to arrange driving transport from Bangalore to Mysore for our wedding, since it's only a 3 hour drive.
Rental Car
Due to the nature of driving in India, we highly recommend folks don't rent cars when visiting. Uber is widespread in the larger Indian cities and will be the easiest to use. For transport in between wedding events, we will arrange your transportation.
Train
Trains are another great option for navigating India! While you won't need one to get to and from our wedding events, you may choose to use it when visiting other parts of the country. There are also overnight trains available if you're making a longer journey. We've linked a website here that gives a GREAT explanation of Indian train travel. They give recommendations for ticket bookings there as well. However, if you'd like to go directly to the India railway website, visit https://www.irctc.co.in/nget/
