Question

Where do I park?

Answer

Ceremony Parking: There is ample street parking on the surrounding streets along Midway Plaisance Park. The Lexington parking lot is also available adjacent to the church at 5835 South University Avenue. For those needing extra assistance, there is an accessible entrance at the Lexington parking lot and use of the driveway on the east side of the church is also available for drop off and pick up. Reception Parking: Driving and parking in the city can be stressful (especially if Kali’s driving 😊), so here are some parking options near Harold Washington Library. If any of these options don’t work for you there are also numerous other parking lots, garages, and street parking options. The SpotHero app can also be a useful tool to find and book spots in Chicago. Park 1 (uncovered) 511 S Plymouth Ct. Chicago IL 60605, South Loop Self-park (covered) 318 S federal St., USA Parking LLC (uncovered) 412 South Dearborn St.

Question

How do I get to the venues?

Answer

Chicago offers many options when it comes to transportation. Here's the best ways to get around the city: Uber or Lyft – Download the app, put in your information, and start moving around the city. This will be the easiest and quickest way to get to our venues if you are staying downtown and don’t have your car. The L – purchase and pre-load a Ventra card to get around the city cost-effectively. You can also use Google map’s transit option to find the best routes to get where you’re going. Rental or personal cars – Download the SpotHero app for additional parking options.

Question

Is there a shuttle from the reception to the hotels?

Answer

Yes, a shuttle will be provided to transport guests from our reception venue to The Palmer House and Hotel Blake from 5:45-11:45.

Question

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Both the ceremony and reception will take place indoors. However, Rockefeller Memorial Chapel was built in 1928 and therefore does not have air conditioning. We encourage guests to dress accordingly.

Question

I'm visiting from out of town. What are your favorite restaurants in the city?

Answer

Chicago offers some of the best food in the country - in our humble opinion. Some of our favorites are; Abba, Green Street Meats, Au Cheval, Bar Sienna/Sienna Tavern, Portillos, Do-Rite Donuts, Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings, Lou Malnati's, Cone Gourmet Ice Cream, La Scarola.

Question

We're looking for a night on the town. Where should we go?

Answer

Some of our favorite places for drinks in the city are: Ballast Point Brewing, Celeste, Federales, Kingston Mines, Bub City, Hopsmith Tavern.

Question

What type of food and drink will be served at the reception?

Answer

We will be serving light passed hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour, followed by dinner and dessert. At the bar, drinks are on us!

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Our wedding is formal. Ladies are invited to wear cocktail or floor length dresses and men a suit and tie or a sports coat.

Question

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

Answer

We are going unplugged. We kindly ask that all of our guests put their phones away and be fully present with us during our ceremony.

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

Although we love your children and wish we could accommodate them, because of limitations, we are having an adults-only reception. The only children attending are those who are part of our wedding party. We hope you will understand our decision, and take the opportunity to let your hair down and celebrate in style!
