Want to take the same hike where Justin proposed at the top? If you come to town early, and LOVE hiking, this is for you! Hike the West Fork Trail at Pinnacle Park in Sylva, North Carolina, and you'll climb to exceptional views from The Pinnacle. Warning, the trail is long! 7.4 miles, mostly uphill! The last mile of the trip up is flatter than the rest, and you'll experience lush flowers all around. If you're lucky like we were, you'll also be greeted by butterflies at the top!
Coming into town early? You HAVE to go white water rafting! The Tuckasegee is the ideal river for first-time rafters and those who want more of a relaxing river trip with warmer water and the milder Class I & II rapids. The Tuckasegee river, or the “Tuck” as the locals fondly call it, gets it start in the Cashiers and Panther Town area of Jackson County. The word Tuckasegee comes from the Cherokee word “Di-gah-se” and means "Place of the Turtle".
