In the Spring of 2008 Hunter, newly licensed to drive and needing a means to pay for it, walked into the local KFC/Taco Bell to see about getting his first high school job. Justin had been working there as a manager for some time. Even though they went to the same school, Justin was a year ahead, and they had never crossed paths or become friends. Justin was Hunter's boy crush! They became acquaintances, and followed each other on social media as they both graduated high school and went onto college!
After high school Justin and Hunter had exchanged cordial Facebook messages, had chatted about both studying abroad in Italy, but had never made plans to meet or hang out. In July 2013 Justin had just graduated from UNCG with his BA degree in Interior Architecture, and posted on Facebook a picture of his car stuffed with moving boxes as he was moving back home. Hunter liked the photo, and soon after Justin texted Hunter to see if he wanted to hang out the next day at the mall since he was in town. Hunter said YES!
It didn't take long for Hunter and Justin to fall for each other. After their first "date" at the mall, they quickly started hanging out, and after celebrating each other's birthdays in August, Hunter was ready to lock Justin in! On September 5th, they made their relationship Facebook Official!
From the early years of their relationship, Hunter and Justin had both decided that they wouldn't take their relationship to the next step until both of them had finished school or had both established their careers. In August 2015 both Hunter and Justin quit their jobs, and Justin started Graduate school at NCSU for Architecture, and Hunter started his Real Estate business, Hunt Houses NC. During his time in Graduate School, Justin started working for Hunter part time to help his resume. He soon fell in love with it too! Fast forward to Christmas 2019, Justin had graduated that summer and was working full time alongside Hunter. They were visiting family for the holidays, and Justin's dad secretly passed Justin an old wedding band from the family. This started the conversation that eventually led to the engagement. :)
