Exploring Merida

The Mayan city of T'ho, renamed Merida by the conquistadors in 1542, is the oldest still-inhabited city in North America. Today, Merida is the cultural capital of the Yucatan region, renowned for its archaeological sites, colonial architecture and cuisine. Merida is very safe. According to CEOWORLD magazine's annual ranking of crime statistics in 300 world cities, Merida is the 2nd safest in North America -- behind Quebec City and ahead of every large U.S. city. Below are some places to explore, if you have time.
