How We Met

Born To Be Three!

Julia and I met in the fall of 2016 at Tuck Business School. We were both placed in Section 3, which meant we took all of our fall classes together. It was soon obvious that we shared the same sense of humor: we were the only two people laughing at all of the professors’ (bad?) jokes. Fast forward through many classes, Tuck social events, and Murphy's happy hours, I learned that we both loved skiing, running, and generally adventuring near and far. After a couple weeks of planning “accidental” run-ins outside of class, I knew I needed to take Julia out on a real date. While my first attempt at a date night didn’t go as planned (we were joined by 5 of our classmates…), date night two was a great success. (I made sure to drive us 40 minutes into Vermont to avoid the mishap of date night one.) From sunrise hikes before class at Tuck, to spending nights in Chinese airports, to watching the world go by at a café in Belgium, we’ve been able to share our love of adventures while building our lives together. We are so incredibly excited to start this next adventure and celebrate with the people we love most!

How He Asked

Joshua Tree!

Earlier this year, we were all set to fly to Barcelona for a week - we were so excited for a break from work and to explore the Spanish coast. A few days before our flight, more and more COVID cases started cropping up in Spain and 2 days before, we decided to shift our plans. I was pretty bummed and suggested canceling our week off, but Brad had other ideas in his head. We decided to get in the car and drive South to Joshua Tree - a place we had both always wanted to visit. We got to our Airbnb for the week pretty late in the evening and I was so happy to be there with no real plans and plenty of time to relax. Brad quickly suggested that we do a sunrise hike the next morning - initially, I was hesitant because I was so excited to sleep in and make a leisurely breakfast, but he won me over quickly. We got up early and made our way into the National Park in the pitch dark. We started the hike and I was obsessed with all the amazing desert plans and cacti - I kept taking pictures and dragging Brad to check out the incredible plants. After his subtle suggestions that we keep moving to catch the sunrise, we got to a rock overlooking a beautiful valley with the sun rising, and Brad got down on one knee. I immediately burst into tears (the happiest tears!) and we watched the rest of the sunrise on what is now my favorite rock in the entire world. We got to enjoy the rest of the week as a newly engaged couple doing everything we love! From trail running, to relaxing in our backyard hot tub, to making delicious dinners, and drinking as much champagne as we wanted, we had the absolute greatest time. I couldn't have dreamed of a better day and most importantly, the start of the rest of our lives together!
