I first met the love of my life at work. I was in charge of the Nigerian section of the multi cultural fashion show we were having. At the time there was no interest in both parts. Just a shared mutual conviction over the music we would dance to. This led us to team up. Unaware that God was bringing us together, I was just making continuous jokes getting in the way of us learning our dance. But the day of the fashion show, mannnn.. I still can’t describe with words but it was like God shone a light on her, and I knew I had to pursue. I knew I needed to fast and pray about it first. Once that was done I walked into her office and asked her for a courtship. Can you believe this woman laughed in my face! She would not stop laughing. And finally said “I’ll get back to you.” I told her “you can be honest” because I thought she was uninterested. I was definitely irritated, but then I realized the woman I was dealing with. A woman of God, who would fast and pray before she gave me an answer. A couple days later she finally said yes!! Somehow I knew this was different. And I was right!! Things I’ve prayed for in a woman my whole life, were answered with her. I realized that God had truly blessed me!

Here’s the abbreviated version: Sherif & I met at the work. My clinical manager recommended I join the hospital-wide fashion show, but I politely declined! Shortly after, another person in the hospital came to recruit people in the pharmacy department for the fashion show & I obliged… but tried to get out of the commitment 3 times after that. Well that did not work, thankfully. Sherif was over the Nigerian group but we ended up forming our own group because of our conviction for dancing to certain secular music. I chose the song and created the dance and would practice with him during the week on our lunch break— but there were no feelings there or even thoughts of being something more than dance partners for the show. As the Lord would have it, 2 days after the show, this man would roll into my office & ask for a courtship. I laughed in the moment to cope with what was happening but I was already fasting & praying at the time. I told him I’d get back to him. After our first real conversation, I knew this man was surrendered to Jesus & obedient to the Holy Spirit. His speech alone did not do it for me, the fruit of His actions spoke louder & I knew I’d be a fool to not give him my yes. So 6 days later, I did & it’s been continual JOY ever since. Sherif, you've truly added to my joy and I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with you! This is a story only God Himself could’ve wrote and everyone who hears will rejoice with us.
