We first met when we were in the same 7th grade class. We quickly became chummy in Math class, where Jordan would playfully tease Katey about the way she pronounced certain words with her (at the time) thick New York accent. After that, we lost touch and wouldn’t reconnect until years later. In high school, we were placed in the same 11th grade English class. Jordan says that he remembers seeing Katey walk into that class, down to the outfit that she was wearing, and just knew that he had to have her. He’d find excuses to talk to her, try to partner together on class assignments, crack jokes just to make her laugh, and eventually invited her to join weekend hangouts and parties with mutual friends at his house. Katey became a regular member of the friend group and her and Jordan became the best of friends. Even though we were very close, Jordan was still very deep in the friend zone. He was always there for Katey and did his best to be supportive of her journey even though they weren’t together; never once giving up on her or the hopes of becoming more than friends. Eventually, Katey finally realized that Jordan was not only her best friend, but something much more. He was the one she had the best time and most laughs with, who loved and supported her through everything, and truly wanted nothing more than to make her happy. The connection that we had was undeniable- and with that, at last he climbed out of the friend zone and we finally made it official in March of 2013! After that, we both focused on college, landing good jobs, and had a checklist of things we wanted to accomplish before moving forward with a wedding- however, life had other plans and we decided that we didn’t want to wait any longer to tie the knot. Jordan proposed during the weekend of our 10-year anniversary (with the help of our best pals) and of course, Katey said yes!!! We got engaged on April Fool’s day, a very fitting choice for two jokesters in love ;) It was our happiest day yet, and we can’t wait for our next happiest day as we move forward together in becoming husband and wife 🤎
