Picture it, Sicily, 2016: We signed up for the same Computer-Aided Design class, or CAD as the cool kids would call it. As the only female in the class, it was a little daunting. Looking around, I had realized that I didn’t know almost anyone in the class very well. I had decided to sit next to the tall guy that wore tie-dye all the time since he had been nice to me in gym class the semester before. I came to find that I was not very good at CAD, so Joel and I struck a deal: he would help me with all of the assignments and I would give him the ham off of my school breakfast sandwiches. We eventually realized that we had very similar tastes and senses of humor which led to talking outside of that CAD class. We never ran out of things to talk about; we would talk until 2 or 3 in the morning (sorry Alene). It dawned on me that I had developed a huge crush on the big goofball, and I pestered him endlessly about when he would ever ask me out. Finally, on 4/20/2016, he did it. Neither of us would have ever guessed that 8 years from that day would be our wedding day. From two awkward kids in their junior year of high school, to graduating high school together, going to college, graduating college, making many amazing new friends together, going on fun trips together, dealing with loss together, getting our first apartment, renting a house together, adopting two perfect cats together, to finally getting married. We can’t wait to see what the rest of our lives holds for us. Together.
