Jo and Josh met in the fall of 2009 during WCU’s fall Student Written One Acts. They were sitting together during rehearsal and Josh asked her how many Sweeney Todd jokes she'd heard in her lifetime since JOANNA is a famous song in the show. She laughed and said "way too many.” They remained good friends through college, performing in or directing shows, attending UT meetings, hitting up Burrito Loco, or spending Tuesday karaoke nights at Docs.
After Joanna's 21st birthday (where Josh carried her home), he decided to ask her out. When he finally asked, Joanna was nervous and wanted to remain “just friends.” He asked her to reconsider and after one date, Jo was smitten. For their first date, they went to Landmark Americana in downtown West Chester before partying with friends. They dated for 6 years, celebrating significant milestones together: graduation, first jobs, and their first apartment together.
Two days after their 6 year anniversary, Josh proposed! He made arrangements with Christina and Steph to get Jo out of the house and they took her to a great vegan restaurant in Rittenhouse. After dinner, the girls wanted to walk through the park (in the rain). Jo had no clue that Josh had gathered their family and friends together in Rittenhouse Square for the proposal. He popped the question and here we are!
