Love is the greatest force of nature and context may be the second greatest. We have chosen Kennebunkport, Maine for our wedding experience because we want to bring our many communities of family and friends together to celebrate in joy and love while experiencing a beautiful part of the world that has become a place of respite and relaxation for us and our families, US Presidents, fellow New Englanders, and travelers from near and far. We hope to share with you the feelings of joy that we feel when we are here - During our wedding weekend and well beyond. The rocky shores remind us of the strength needed to endure in the face of powerful outside forces. Seeing snow on sandy beaches reminds us that there is wonder in the world we have yet to experience. The sunrises remind us of the hope of a new day. The sparkling ocean reminds us of the sparkling joy we find in the eyes of family and friends. The cool breeze reminds us that relaxation is a responsibility. Witnessing one of the largest Christmas celebrations in the US reminds you that we can all live where we live and party with friends and family in all contexts including freezing cold. Walking by US Presidents and hearing the stories of people they have touched in town reminds us that we all must be strong enough to be gentle. Whether it be walks into town, sailing on the waters, eating your first 'steamer', or relaxing at the beach, we hope you enjoy Kennebunkport and hope it becomes a special place for you, too!
Creative, Hollywood, or Festive Black Tie is . . . Creative black tie is a dress code that allows you to rethink, alter, and update your formal attire by adding hints of your own personal style. When a formal event calls for a creative black tie dress code, it means you don’t have to adhere to the traditional black tie standards in which men are expected to wear a specific tuxedo shirt paired with a black suit, and women are expected to wear dark evening dresses. Creative black tie outfits include the use of different textures, prints, patterns, colors, or accessories to create your own fun, but still very elegant look. Let the creative juices flow and explore outside the box elegance with colors and textures that bring you joy, remind you of the beauty of the ocean and vibrance of summer time flowers.
