The oldest documented annual sporting event in North America. A civic holiday which is held the first Wednesday of August (weather dependent). This is the 200th anniversary event, so it will be busy! It is a day time event that takes place at Quidi Vidi Lake, not far from downtown St. John's.
George Street Festival is taking place the week before the wedding. Check out the schedule of events and come a little early to catch this - you won't be disappointed!
The most easterly point in North America. Fun thing to say you've been! A bit of a drive from downtown St. John's. May be best to hire a car for the day or get a Newfie to drive you here :)
You won't miss this from downtown St. John's. Good for photo ops!
Beautiful scenery on this trail. It's quite a long hike to do the whole thing, but you can find shorter trails along the way. Careful along those cliffs!
Pronounced (kiddie vid-dee) Beautiful area, close to downtown. Check out the Quidi Vidi Brewery while you're here!
This one is not close to St. John's, but if you have time to take a trip across Newfoundland, the scenery is worth it! There is an airport in Deer Lake, it is about an hour drive from there. Other options to get there is to rent a car from St. John's and drive, or take a bus as far as Deer Lake/Corner Brook and get a rental car from there.
Outdoor folk festival at Bannerman Park. Cool to check out, but the Saturday shows may conflict with the wedding. If you find the time, do stop by and listen to music from local artists. Not too far from downtown.
Bars, pubs, clubs, patios, live music - need we say more? This is also where our wedding venue is located! Feel free to stroll the street and experience the local night life.
Newfoundland has some great opportunities to see beautiful rocky, coastal scenery from a boat! Whales are also very common here, so those whale tours are usually worth the time. There are also sea kayak tours offered outside of St. John's.
Fun evening walking tour around downtown St. John's while hearing spooky stories and visiting the locations of where those events happened.
Sign up for a beer tour, or steal the route and DIY!
Go throw an axe or two.
