We love your kids—we really do. But we want our wedding to be your night off! Unfortunately, our venues (brewery & pub on George Street) are not exactly kid friendly, and our cocktail reception venue: O'Reilly's, is a pub that enforces 19+ age restriction. Of course we know that some of you that are traveling can't just leave your kids 'home alone' style. Please let us know if your child will be attending, or if you are interested in finding a local babysitter.
Nope! Make your way to the Yellowbelly Public House for the ceremony and all other events are within walking distance.
Cocktail, please. But we want you to feel comfortable, so if those shoes are too high or that top button is too tight, do what you must. The locations for the ceremony, cocktail reception, dinner, and dance will all be indoors. There will be a short walk down George Street to get to and from the cocktail reception location.
Yes. There will be bar service during the cocktail reception, as well as during the dance. Bar service is suspended while staff are serving dinner. There is a cool 'speakeasy' style bar in the basement of the venue called the Underbelly, feel free to check it out!
If you have a food allergy or any dietary restrictions, please let us know when you RSVP. We've chosen a set menu that may contain meat, dairy, and nuts. There will be alternative meal options for anyone who needs it.
If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes, if not, we would prefer if it was just you. If you have any concerns, please let us know.
Unfortunately, the Yellowbelly does not have an elevator. If you enter the venue from the George Street side, you will need to go up 2 flights of stairs to make it to the third floor where the ceremony and reception will take place. If you do have mobility issues, please let us know. The venue has offered to let us use the service elevator if needed.
A ceremony that welcomes visitors to Newfoundland that includes kissing a cod fish, repeating some Newfoundland phrases, and taking a shot of rum ("Screech") to become an honorary Newfoundlandler. Read more about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kissing_the_cod If you would like to participate but do not drink alcohol, please let us know when you RSVP.
Newfoundland weather this time of year can vary a lot. It may be sunny, warm & humid, or cloudy, cold & damp. It's also frequently windy. The venue will likely not have AC (Newfoundland doesn't usually need it). Definitely pack a jacket for chilly evenings and the possibility of rain.
Totally up to you! If you plan to stay in St. John's and not venture far from the city, you should do fine without one. There are many taxi companies if you need to get around short distances. If you do want to travel a little further, try and book your rental early. They tend to be limited during the busy summer season in Newfoundland.
