Our love story

Janice and Gio first met in 2012 while working together at the Apple store in New York’s Grand Central Terminal. Janice was the outgoing sales rep and workshop instructor, while Gio was the tech-savvy Expert by the Genius bar. Whenever a patron was in the market for a MacBook or needed assistance with Apple Care, Janice wasn’t shy about throwing Gio the alley-oop on the regular. Though technology brought them together, the East Coast natives didn’t need to swipe right on a screen to know they were a match. After bonding over sneakers and photography, the former colleagues took their working relationship in a different direction at the exact moment Hurricane Sandy was shutting the city down, and thus, their love story began. Over the past decade, Janice and Gio have racked up many milestones — and even more miles. They have changed zip codes several times, living in various places across the United States and the Atlantic Ocean from the Upper West Side of New York to Miami, Florida to London, England. In 2022, the jet-setting couple made California their forever happy place when Gio got down on one knee at Descanso Gardens and asked the question Janice had waited so long to hear: “Are we doing this or not?” The following year, they bought their first home together in Los Angeles. Clearly, Janice’s answer was yes. One memorable getaway that stands out for these frequent fliers was the couple’s first trip abroad together to Riviera Maya, Mexico in September 2013. They booked an excursion to the Mayan ruins, which included a deep dive into the underwater caves — and an unplanned wedding ceremony led by a shaman. By this point, they had only been together for a year and “just let it happen.” For their forthcoming nuptials, Gio and Janice knew it was only right they return to Mexico and bless their union officially at their landmark of love. While Gio and Janice have a lengthy list of accomplishments to toast to, their everyday moments of togetherness are also worth celebrating and cherishing. It’s the weekend morning rituals when the caffeinated couple orders lattes at a local café after Gio hoops with the guys. It’s the thrill of exploring every corner of a new Kith store in search of heat. It’s the matching sneaker pics posted before takeoff on every flight. It’s the small compromises they make while designing their home or picking a restaurant, despite their distinct tastes and Gio’s seafood allergy. As a unit, they have stayed true to themselves while learning how to show up for each other. Janice still delights in the candid moments Gio breaks character and indulges his inner child with a funny remark. Gio, a meticulous planner, has learned to take Janice’s lead and go with the flow on vacation. When it comes to their perspectives, Gio tends to view life in black and white, while Janice provides pops of color. Their upcoming wedding has been a long time coming, but well worth the wait. Guests will witness history as an Aries and a Capricorn put their differences aside, blend their Filipino, Puerto Rican and Cuban families, and celebrate a lifetime of love in the making. They are looking forward to being surrounded by their nearest and dearest on this momentous occasion and hope you will join them for their Big Day in June 2024.
