FAQ & Things to Know

- Always have some cash on you – particularly for taxis and Uber (many don’t take credit cards) - 1 US$ = ~ARS 124 (Pesos) - ATMs are called BANELCO (Red) - Use Credit Cards if possible. May charge extra, but cheaper than withdrawing $ (~US$10 to w/d, ATMs often run out of money) - Need Pesos - suggest using DEBIT card at an ATM (rather than exchange US$) - US$ Bills can be exchanged at Banks (more reliable), or “casas de cambio” - avoid walking around with too much cash - Taxis: reliable & metered, cash only mostly. If very late, call “radio taxi” or "taxi premium' - Remis: type of taxi for longer distances - ask for price - iPhones: CAREFUL when walking around - they can be snatched by pick pockets/motorcycles. Do NOT take them out carelessly, use as little as possible in safer areas - Don’t leave bag/purse hanging on the chair of a restaurant (even while at the table) – beware of pick pockets. Keep CLOSE - Jewelry/watches: keep expensive items in a safe, or leave behind
