A strenuous but beautiful hike of Table Mountain. 1.8 miles to the top with 2,450 ft elevation gain. You can hike up and take the cable car down, or head down via Platteklip Gorge. Not recommended for those who are afraid of heights or traversing on ladders.
Visit the southern-most tip of Africa at Cape Point. This is a national park so entry fee is required. We recommend stopping at the penguin colony in Simon's town and driving around the peninsula via Chapman's Peak and ending for a cocktail in Camps Bay or at Bungalow (also included in our recommendation list)
Take a day to try out South Africa's amazing wines! Stellenbosch and Franschhoek would each be a whole day trip. We recommend either choosing wine farms (recommend 3 or 4) with good reviews and good restaurants and taking an Uber, or you can reserve a more curated tour if you'd prefer to avoid the pressure of choosing wineries and waiting for Ubers. NVM Travel can arrange a wine tour for you; reach out to Nicole (email: nicole@nvmtravel.co.za; WhatsApp: +27 72 279 9745)
If you're tight on time and can't budget a full day but still want to get a taste of South Africa's amazing wines, you could do a half-day trip to Constantia (~20mins from Cape Town)
Camps Bay- like South Beach in Miami, but cheaper, with lots of bars and restaurants. A great spot to grab a sunset cocktail! Clifton- this is one of our favorites! There are four beaches (Clifton 1-4) with boulders and and crystal blue water. No bars and restaurants, but walking distance from Bungalow Noordhoek- one of the largest beaches in Cape Town, Noordhoek is a little more laid back and the beach is generally less crowded
A great hike to with awesome views of Cape Town and the ocean. There are some ladders that can be challenging to navigate. If you're feeling more adventurous and the weather plays along, paragliding off lions head and ending for a cocktail at Bungalow is a must!
If you're not feeling the grueling hike up table mountain, take the cable car. You'll get to enjoy the views minus the effort.
Take a half day trip out to Robin Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, to learn more about South Africa's history.
Kirstenbosch botanical gardens is a great spot for a picnic. There are also hikes in in the forest or up Table Mountain (via Skeleton Gorge) with trail heads from the gardens.
