Maid of Honor
My own personal stand-up comedian, Ally has been with me through thick and thin. From consoling each other with ice cream after killer workouts to being asked to leave class because of laughing too much, we were each others' confidantes and instigators since the ripe old age of 14. Ally knows how to make me laugh like no one else. She also gives the best nicknames...Pickle, Big Toe, and Chewy to name a few
Maid of Honor
Jocelyn and I met before I could even properly pronounce her name ("Hi Josh-lyn, let's be friends!" on the first day of Kindergarten was all we needed to begin a lifelong friendship). For the past 27 years, we have been each other's sidekicks from trying to lick our own noses (and succeeding) to years of trick-or-treating, to learning to drive (and hoping dad wouldn't notice the new dent on the car door...), to every boy crush and heartbreak, to college and graduate school graduations. As we like to say and as demonstrated by the picture above, "we are one person!"
Bridesmaid
Cody is the smartest and most talented person in the world. AND she is also one of my closest friends! How lucky am I?! We ran on the Yale Track and Field team together, where we were 400m hurdle buddies! While we initially bonded over mutual inability to walk, our friendship was cemented through camaraderie, laughter, and travel. We were roommates every weekend at track meets, where pre-meet pasttimes included jumping on the beds and taking ice baths in the hotel tubs, to singing songs about water buffaloes to make the time go by faster. The most selfless and upbeat person around, Cody brightens any room she enters!
Bridesmaid
Sapna is my sister-in-law extraordinaire!!!! As you all know, I have always wanted a sister (nothing against you, my lovely brothers) and finally Sapna came into my life! And how incredibly lucky did I get with this one -- from teaching women in Africa the confidence and power of karate, to empowering women worldwide to travel independently, Sapna inspires me daily. And, cherry on top, she is my fashion connoisseur!
Bridesmaid
Frances was my very first roommate at Yale, and we lived together for all 4 years! From innocent late night movie nights, to a-little-less-innocent breaking and entering phase, Frances and I have certainly had some exciting moments together. While our rebellious phase has perhaps gotten a little less...consequential...shall we say, our sense of adventure has not! Frances and her new husband (!!!) Emil came to visit me in Hawaii where we spent the days hiking and the nights chatting, and where we narrowly missed a tiger shark while kayaking!
Groomsman
Don't let his height fool you, this is Kale's younger bro! Though they have been on separate coasts from each other most of their lives, these two are always together for the big moments. And they always have a great time when they are together, from ziplining in Costa Rica to family nights and playing in the snow in Seattle and boogie boarding and surfing in Hawaii over the years. Kale adores his younger brother and is elated to have him at his side on this momentous day. And Jenna is so excited to have another younger brother!
Groomsman
Kale first met Doug when Doug stole his seat in math class in ninth grade. From there, the two became better and better friends through each step in their lives. They traveled abroad to Belfast in Northern Ireland in college and after became roommates in Brookline and Mission Hill when Kale was in medical school at Tufts before leaving for residency at UMass. Doug takes the record for most visits to see Kale and Jenna in Hawaii with four, and even likes to take vacation with the newlyweds, having gone with Kale to Cancun in 2016 where Doug got bat guano in his eye from cave diving and needed antibiotics and most recently traveling with the couple to South Korea in 2022. Doug also helped Kale move back from Seattle in 2010 where they took his old car across the country with their friend Mike, and has become fast friends with Jenna over the last several years since they started dating. He even showed up in Switzerland a couple days after the two were engaged!
Groomsman
Kale's oldest friend, they met in second grade and have been there for each other since. Harry has always been deeply involved in Kale's love life, attending their first dances together at the "Night Spot" in middle school where Harry taught Kale how to slow dance (he can be blamed entirely for Kale's skills--or lack thereof--at the wedding) and setting Kale up with his first girlfriend in sixth grade! That relationship only lasted two weeks but Kale and Harry's has been steady ever since. Harry has always been adept at roping his friends into various endeavors, and Kale has been no exception--Becoming a regular fill-in for Harry's paper route, briefly a member in his boy scout troop, and most recently a groomsman, bachelor party planner, landscaper and mixologist for Harry's wedding. This time Kale gets to repay the favor by having Harry part of his big day, and he and Jenna are thrilled to have him in the wedding party to add his typical flare and story-telling skills.
Groomsman
Realizing they needed another roommate when they moved to their party pad in Mission Hill, Kale and Doug looked to Craigslist and scored bigtime when they landed Andy. They knew he was perfect when he and Kale first met and realized they shared a birthday, of which they celebrated together annually for years until Kale left for Hawaii. During the same time, the two also sent out questionable holiday cards each year to spread cheer and confusion amongst all of their friends. Though this had to stop once Kale left the mainland, their friendship and love/hate relationship with their Boston sports teams keep them engaged with each other regardless of how many time zones separate them. Hopefully, Kale and Jenna's move back to the mainland will lead to some more Patriots playoff wins, of which they have not accomplished since Kale left Boston. Kale and Jenna are very excited for Andy to be part of their big day, as his friendship and loyalty has meant so much to Kale. Though this party is going to be different than their old Mission Hill blowouts, it is likely to be just as fun with Doug, Andy and Kale back together!
Officiant
Kale and Jenna met each other while Kale was in residency and Jenna was studying at Tufts. Matt was there right at the beginning as Kale's roommate and co-resident at the time, and got to know Jenna early on as a result. Kale first notified Matt of Jenna's existence after he would go missing to visit Jenna in Boston from Worcester. Matt met Jenna at his and Kale's holiday party that year, and soon after Jenna went with Kale and Matt to Vermont for a skiing and New Year's Eve celebration. The infamous annual party was a onesie party, and without coordinating Jenna and Kale showed up as a narwhal and unicorn, showing that they had comparable tastes from the get-go! Since, Jenna and Kale have had a lot of bonding time with Matt, visiting him in Denver where he now lives and having him out to Hawaii on a couple of occasions. No better person to have officiate their wedding! So happy he said yes!
Mother of the Bride
Best mom is the world award goes to this one! There are no words to explain how much we love and adore Jenna’s mom. She is a ceaseless support, incredibly generous with her time and love, and Jenna’s best friend and pillar through the ups and downs of life. While we could go on and on about her professional talents - doctor extraordinaire, public health and metabolic health guru, and now an AUTHOR! - her inspiring spirit and endless wisdom take the cake. She taught Jenna to learn something new everyday, and to look past the small setbacks in life. One of Jenna’s and her moms favorite activities is to go hiking together, and Jenna’s mom is still the fastest! We are so excited to finally live closer to Jenna’s mom and dad, and we are eagerly looking forward to many shared dinners and farmers market visits!
Father of the Bride
The king of dad jokes, and Jenna's fellow Bruce Springsteen fan!! It doesn’t matter if it’s winter time or in the heat of summer, dad and Jenna will be singing their hearts out to Bruce’s “Santa Clause is Coming To Town”! Jenna’s dad is also our sidekick in exploring every brewery in our new home of North Carolina. Always ready for a good time, his catch phrases include “the party don’t start til I walk in!” and “who’s YETI to party?!”. Despite being the best orthopedist on the east coast, he’s also a very talented landscaper and cocktail maker! He has dreams of opening a speakeasy with Kale someday. But for now, Jenna is so excited to be her dad’s coworker!
Brother of the Bride
Jonathan has been Jenna’s idol since she was born (though Jonathan didn’t feel the same way apparently, as he dragged Jenna to the front door anytime someone would ring the door bell, hoping someone would step on her or take her away). Jenna learned how to spell Jonathan’s name before she could spell her own! She followed him everywhere, often to her own detriment - throughout the cornfields of Nebraska where they were attacked by a swarm of yellowjackets, and through the forests of Massachusetts where Jonathan left Jenna in a thicket of thorns. But my, how the tides have turned! Just this year, Jenna and Jonathan went on a scuba diving trip to the remote island of Palau where Jonathan was attacked by a trigger fish! Luckily he made it out alive but has a scar to tell the tale. All jokes aside, Jonathan is a rockstar neurosurgeon who has just started two fellowships, all the while traveling the world every chance he can get. All Jenna asks is that he share some of his genes with her.
Brother of the Bride
Chris (though he will always be Christopher to Jenna) is the life of every party. His laugh is infectious and he is the most spontaneous person we know - Jenna is hoping some of that will rub off on her once they are finally living closer to each other again. Chris' motto in making life decisions is "what will make the better story?" A typical (and often) case in point: just worked 8 shifts in a row in a crazy Emergency Department, and pulled 3 all nighters, but you want to throw a party specifically named after Chris Poggi (the famous and legendary Hallow-oggi), or go skiing in Colorado, or go bowling? Chris is down for it! And he’ll beat you at any one of those (did I mention that he’s also the most competitive person we know?). Somehow he’s good at quite literally everything he tries and has fun doing it. Now THAT is a quality all of us wish we could have. Cheers to Chris(topher)!
Grandma of the Bride
“Will you be my grandma?” was the beginning of a beautiful relationship. Gram was the Poggis’ realtor when they moved to Massachusetts when Jenna was 5 years old, but she has been her grandmother ever since. It feels like a holiday every time Gram is around, and she has come to every birthday and every Christmas for the past 28 years. Gram used to take Jenna back-to-school shopping every fall, and even was the one to take Jenna to get her ears pierced, which Jenna was so excited about that she called a dozen people in her class to tell them. Though Jenna and Gram were far away from each other while Jenna lived in Hawaii, they would go for walks on the beach together using FaceTime. Gram is a warm hug everywhere Jenna goes!
Father of the Groom
Also known as The Global Wine Magnate and Grill Master, and looking to start his next career as a pro surfer at age 63, Kale is so happy to have his dad here on his wedding day. He knows his dad is proud of him, but wants his dad to know he's proud of him too for all he has accomplished as an entrepreneur, person and father. Their bond has only grown stronger over the years, and we are so happy to have Kale's dad here on this day.
Sister of the Groom
The funniest and brightest in the family, Harper's quick whit and kind soul have been there since the day she and Kale met. He is lucky to have her as a sister and looks forward to every call he receives for random medical advice. Kale is so excited for her future and cannot wait to see where life takes her. So happy to have her part of his and Jenna's big day!
Sister of the Groom
Kale met Sophie when he was 11 and they had an instant bond. Definitely the toughest in the family, Sophie is a fearless equestrian and someone Kale looks up to a lot despite being her older brother! Nothing makes him happier than knowing his little sisters get to share this day with him.
