One of Jenna and Kale's favorite pastimes -- a way to enjoy nature and drink some seriously good wine! Virginia is one of the country's top producing wine states, and Charlottesville has over 40 vineyards. Of course, we are getting married at our favorite one, but we love vineyard hopping! Some of our favorites include Veritas, Barboursville, and King Family Vineyards, but there are so many that we haven't explored yet! Perhaps you can find our next favorite! Or...you can book your own wine tour at the link above!
Kale's favorite activity! Charlottesville has a 15 craft breweries, cideries, and distilleries all within walking distance of each other. For those feeling extra festive, you can even get the "Ale Trail Passport" and claim stamps from visiting each one. Cheers!
One of Jenna's favorite activities! Albermarle County and nearby Shenandoah National Park have over 500 miles of beautiful trails to explore. The Saunders-Monticello hike is a family friendly option, whereas the Ragged Mountain area is for the brave and adventurous!
A taste of the South! The heart of Charlottesville is a super cute cobblestoned and tree-lined street in downtown Charlottesville with a bunch of boutique shops and delicious restaurants. Don't be surprised to hear live music and see street performers while strolling past old historic buildings!
For the history lovers, three of our Founding Fathers have historic homes in Charlottesville. Most famouusly, Thomas Jefferson's home is located on 500 acres of gorgeous land, where tobacco and crops were grown. Now, it is the only private house listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site! It is very close to James Monroe's historic home (called Highland) as well as James Madison's historic home. You can just show up, or book tours in advance
