Jeffrey & Nneka's love story began in 2016 while Jeffrey was visiting a friend, who coincidentally lived on the same floor in the same building as Nneka. He spotted Nneka going into her apartment and his attention was immediately captured. “Who's that?” “Don't even bother, you not ready for her.” Even though he was right, his advice to cease & desist was not appreciated. But from that day Nneka was on Jeffrey's radar. There was not a post on social media Nneka made that Jeffrey didn't like. Every time Nneka went on her socials one thing was certain, Jeffrey liked a picture, left a comment or sent a DM. Meanwhile she would like his posts, reply to a comment or two & even entertain some of his DMs. Not just as a friend but in support of the work Jeffrey was doing. The channel of communication was open. Then came JAIFA’s 2019 Blast Off. Following Jeffery’s presentation, Nneka reached out to Jeffrey via Instagram complimenting him on a phenomenal presentation and expressed that she wished she could present like that. Mind you, Nneka’s presence was not lost on Jeffrey. He had spotted her and knew exactly where she was & what she was wearing. Jeffrey saw Nneka’s interest as an opportunity to be a little more direct and move their frequent social media chit chat to face-to-face convos and offered to help Nneka improve her skills as a speaker. Meeting for coffee they would discuss goals, dreams, purpose, belief and eventually their personal stories. While the meetings were professional there was always an air of friendliness and familiarity. So much so that if you asked Nneka she’d say it felt less like a coaching session and more like a date. Even at the end of their first meeting Jeffrey gave Nneka a hug and kiss on the cheek, a natural reflex for Jeffrey when on a date, but it caught both of them off guard. After a few meet ups, Jeffrey began to fall for Nneka’s grand ambitions, her desire to make a difference in the world and her overall positive outlook on life. Likewise, Nneka’s secret crush that she had on Jeffrey since the JAIFA presentation started to blossom into a real interest. Over time Jeffrey realized he needed Nneka in his life. He expressed to Nneka that no matter where their relationship went, he wanted to help her achieve her dreams, as long as she was willing to have him in her life. Needless to say Nneka was caught off guard by Jeffrey’s offer but she was also a little flattered by it. More dates followed and despite Jeffrey’s attempts to initiate that first kiss, no luck. At this point Nneka knew she liked him & was smitten by how smart he was, the heart he had & the difference he wanted to make, but she wasn't sure if she could trust him with her heart. It wasn't until April 2020, while hanging out, Nneka decided to take a leap of faith & snuck the 1st kiss and they officially started dating. Then came the COVID lockdown, with nothing to do Jeffrey and Nneka spent a lot of time just hanging out. From movie binges to small family gatherings, to helping each other with business ideas. It became clear that there was an ease at which they communicated and supported each other. Their word at the time, “effortless.” After a year of dating it was obvious that the relationship they created was going to be a long one, but it would take a little disaster for true colours to come out. In November of 2021, Nneka suffered a fractured foot during a dance rehearsal. The by-product, Jeffrey became Nneka's support (quite literally). Due to the elevator at her apartment being out and her living on the 4th floor, Jeffrey would have to carry Nneka up and down the stairs. Up to this point Nneka still maintained a little hesitancy, unsure of whether Jeffrey really loved her, but his willingness to care for her, proved to her that he was a keeper. It would be just over a year from the era of the fractured foot, in January of 2023, that Jeffrey would propose to Nneka and start the journey which has brought us to this moment.
