Flight
DCA (Ronald Reagan) is the closest airport to the hotel (~20 minutes by car and/or ~40 minutes by transit). Other nearby airports are BWI (Baltimore/Washington) & IAD (Dulles, ~40 minutes by car), and you would lean on these options only if you plan to rent a car or feel comfortable navigating public transportation. If you wish to take the train from Reagan National Airport to the Thompson Hotel: You will take the local DC Metro and must purchase a metro card to get on the train. You will get on at the Reagan National Airport metro stop and take the Yellow Line toward Mount Vernon. You will then get off the Yellow Line train at L'Enfant Plaza station and transfer to the Green Line. You will want to take the Green Line train towards Branch Avenue. You will then get off the Green Line train at the Navy Yard-Ballpark station, where you will have a short walk to the Thompson Hotel. It will cost you $2-5 from the Reagan Airport metro stop to the Navy Yard-Ballpark metro station.

If you plan to fly into BWI - you must take the train, rent a car, or ride-share to Washington, D.C. If you take the train: You will take the shuttle bus, which runs frequently (~every 15 mins), from BWI Airport to the BWI train station. You can take either the Amtrak train or the MARC regional train from BWI to Washington Union Station. The Amtrak train is $6-$30 and will get more expensive the closer you get to the date. The MARC train is around $8, no matter when you buy it. Amtrak is slightly faster and will have you at Union Station in about 30 mins. The MARC train is a little longer, taking around 40 mins.
