Hello and Welcome!

"I have found the one whom my soul loves" - Song of Songs 3:4

We are so thankful that God placed us in each other's lives! As we prepare to take the next step, we will be using this website as a convenient way to share with you important details regarding the journey to our wedding. Browse around, have a glimpse at our story, get to know a little bit about some very special people in our lives, and jot down the roadmap leading up to our big day. Feel free to laugh with us; we know our pictures are corny and story, unconventional. Don't forget to RSVP and leave us a list of some of your favorite songs. We will be passing them along to the DJ so you can break it down on our special night. We are also accepting marriage tips from the old and wise among the bunch. Most importantly, we kindly ask for your continued prayers and blessings as we embark on this divine new voyage together. Thank you for all the love and support you have graced us with thus far. We cannot wait to celebrate with you! See you in Chicago!

A Snippet About Us

Jash was born on January 29, 1989 in Chicago, Illinois. He was blessed with a younger sister named Stephanie in 1991 (he was lucky enough to not be a loner in the family for a long time). For him, home was the south suburbs of Chicago, specifically around the Flossmoor area where he completed his schooling and went to college. Jash is a 2014 DeVry University graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology. For the following three years, he worked in the Chicagoland area. It was during this time that he moved to Orland Park with his family and met this girl. Fast forward a few years, he got engaged to this girl and followed her to New York where he currently lives and works as a Biomedical Engineer. Jash enjoys watching sports, eating, traveling, and spending time with family, friends, and Kavya ;). Kavya, or Riya as her family calls her, was born on April 23, 1993 in Bhilai, India where her mom's family was settled. She spent her early childhood there with them. She then moved back to Kochi, Kerala to live with her parents when it came time for her to start school. During this time, she was gifted a sister who is ten years younger than her (fun fact). Kavya migrated to Florida with her newly enlarged family soon after to join and live near the Chaluparampil clan, but God had different plans. In early 2004, she and her family moved to the Greater New York area where she finished up her basic education and obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Kavya is currently a Critical Care Nurse and an aspiring Family Nurse Practitioner in New York. She enjoys long walks and hikes, jamming to old and new Indian music, eating brownies and ice cream, and spending time with loved ones. At the moment, she is dying to wrap up wedding planning so she can get back to some of these activities she takes pleasure engaging in.

Our Shaadi Success Story

March 27, 2016

Kavya: Neither of us were believers of online dating, but life took its own course. Jash started his account because all his boys were either engaged or married and he was getting lonely :p. I created my profile because the whole arranged marriage setup was just not working. He's a black and white boy with a brown exterior and I'm a fob from the core. So when I saw his profile, I didn't think I was his type and kept scrolling. He saw mine, had the same thoughts, but decided to try his luck (yup, he made the first move). This was back when Shaadi didn't allow you to chat with your connects unless you were a premium member making routine payments. We were both too cheap for that. So his slick self went on Facebook, stalked for my profile (which was a challenge because we had zero mutual friends), and sent me a message in March of 2016 (yup, he made the second move too). It went something along the lines of "Hey, I'm cheap and don't wanna pay for Shaadi, but would like to get to know you. Respond back if you're interested." We started to get to know each other, but learned that we weren't the right fit at that time, especially being long distance. So, we went our separate ways in terms of the partner hunt, but still kept in touch. Luckily, a series of life events led us to become very good friends over the course of the next year. Come April of 2017, we reached a point where we needed to make some decisions. Despite our uncertainties about the future, Jash took a leap of faith and asked to make it official (yes, he made the third move too. Notice a trend? (lonely! :p)). My indecisive self finally said yes! Since that day, we've grown into best friends. Neither of us have ever looked back and are beyond grateful to have each other. The journey has been anything but easy, but we got this far with a lot of prayers and support from family and friends. We intend to stick to the same game plan as we start to script this new chapter in our lives together.

How He Asked

August 04, 2018

Jash: In April 2018, I decided it was time to start the ring hunt. I had an idea of what Kavya liked, but reached out to her sister and close friends to get a better sense of her taste (she says she’s not picky, but she is :p). I also wanted Kavya's input. So in May, when our families met for the first time in NY, I made plans for us to hang out one day. She thought it was going to be an average day, but I surprised her by taking her to a jeweler who carries her favorite ring designer. Boy, was she shocked! When I got back to Chicago, I luckily found a jeweler who could create a custom ring for me that incorporated all her favorite details. Kavya always talked about wanting to be proposed to at a church by water. When I did research, NY obviously failed me, because I couldn't find such a spot there lol smh (NY sucks :P). During my family’s last NY trip, our parents had decided to host our Orapeer at my house in August. Since NY fell short, I considered proposing on that weekend in Chicago and restarted research. Quickly, I found Madonna Della Strada Chapel, which was everything she ever wanted in location! (Chi rules!) Then came the serious planning. After a lot of communication between our families and her friends, we told her that I was going to take her and her family to brunch on Orapeer day. “I was running a little late” so I sent them “a nice church that they should check out” in the meantime. I blew up a picture of us into a puzzle and wrote “Will You Marry Me?” on the bottom. Each piece had one of our timeline events on the back. Some of her close friends had also flew into town for the weekend as a surprise. I scattered them throughout the venue and as she walked in, they greeted her with a piece. She was so in awe to see them that she didn’t even read the backs until I came out from behind, gave her the last piece, and told her to read them lol smh. We pieced them together, I got down on one knee, and popped the question. She said Absolutely! :)
