Travel & Accomodations

The Wedding Website of Janna Kramer and Mallory Watts
We're so excited for you to see Martha's Vineyard! But please be aware that visiting takes additional planning. We suggest making travel arrangements as soon as possible. If you plan to bring your car over to the island, we recommend setting a reminder in your calendar for January 24th, 2023, when summer booking opens with The Steamship Authority (see link below). Reservations tend to sell out quickly, so we cannot emphasize this enough! Lastly, be mindful of your flight times. For example, if you plan to fly out Sunday from Boston or Providence, you will need to plan an additional 2.5 hours for travel time to the airports (ferry + drive). For a 12pm flight, you will need to be on an 8:15am ferry, or 7am if you like to be extra early. Please see below for more details regarding travel arrangements.

Flight

Martha's Vineyard Airport (MVY)

This is the easiest way to travel to the island! Then you can schedule transportation to your destination via Uber, Lyft, or taxi. Ubers and Lyfts on-island can sometimes be hard to find, but they do exist so it's worth looking! Otherwise, we suggest booking a taxi in advance through any of these companies: Adam Cab: (508) 627-4462 Aquinnah Taxi: (508) 560-3100 Bluefish Taxi: (508) 627-7373 Lighthouse Taxi: (508) 645-6066 YourTaxi: (508) 693-0003 Taxis on-island usually fit 10 - 12 people, so sharing with another group is common! They will take you right to your hotel/rental house, and they will accommodate multiple stops along the way.

Flight

Boston Logan Airport (BOS)

From the Boston Airport, you have three options to get to the island. 1. Drive a rental car 1.5 - 2 hours to Woods Hole, MA. You then can either drive your rental car onto the ferry or walk onto the ferry. If you drive onto the ferry, be sure to book your car reservation well (months) in advance and be sure to arrive 30-45 minutes prior to departure. If you decide to leave your rental car on the mainland, you can park in one of the Steamship Authority lots and take the shuttle to the Woods Hole Terminal. See the Steamship Authority section for information about the ferry. 2. Take an Uber/Lyft to the Steamship Authority Ferry Terminal in Woods Hole, MA and walk onto the ferry. This is a great way to share the cost with family and friends! Walk on passengers may buy a ticket day of in the ferry terminal. 3. The most affordable option is to take the Peter Pan bus from Boston Logan Airport to Woods Hole, MA. We suggest purchasing a bus ticket in advance on www.peterpanbus.com. The bus travels from the airport to Woods Hole multiple times each day and drops passengers off right at the Steamship Terminal in Woods Hole. You can purchase a walk on ferry ticket once you arrive at the terminal.

Flight

T.F. Green Airport (PVD)

From the Providence Airport, you have the same three options to get to the island that time of year. The only difference is that you will need to take either public transportation or an Uber/Lyft/taxi to the bus terminal. Also, the bus ride from Providence to Woods Hole tends to be longer than the ride from Boston, but we'll admit that we're partial to flying in/out of Providence because it's a small and easy airport! Please note the Rhode Island Fast Ferry to Martha's Vineyard does NOT run that time of year.

Travel Note

Steamship Authority (Ferry)

Steamship Authority ferry service for passengers and cars leaves from Woods Hole on Cape Cod, MA. This is the ONLY ferry that will take your car. While you can walk onto any of their 12+ daily crossings, you MUST make an advanced reservation for your car. It’s easy to do by making an account on their website, or by calling 508.477.8600. Vehicle reservations with the Steamship Authority may be made online starting at 5 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2023. If you plan to bring your car, we recommend booking your ROUND TRIP ticket when reservations open in January, as they do sell out. Plan to arrive 30 - 45 minutes before the ferry departs. The ferry ride is 45 minutes and boats arrive into either Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs, and it does not matter which terminal you arrive at on-island. **For those driving a car onto the ferry, double check your reservation is FROM Woods Hole TO Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs - we'd hate for your reservation to be the other way around!**

Travel Note

Accomodations

There are many options for lodging, but like everything else on the island - they book up quickly! Hotels, Inns, and Airbnbs/VRBOs are all available, and please do not feel limited to what we have listed. We highly suggest staying in either Edgartown or Oak Bluffs as we will be providing transportation from these towns on Saturday to and from the wedding. Each town has its own personality - let us know if we can help you decide which spot is best for you!
