Janelli and Evan met while attending Florida Gulf Coast University in August of 2012. Unexpectedly, Evan walked into Janelli's life when he walked through the door to his own dorm. Janelli was visiting friends from high school, who happened to be Evan's college roommates. They came to find that they were in a couple of the same classes and began studying together. Eventually, study dates led to real dates and about a year later they began their relationship.

In December of 2018, the couple stopped in NYC before visiting Evan’s family for Christmas in upstate New York. It was Janelli’s first time in NYC and there was no better or more magical time to visit than Christmastime. After exploring the shop windows on 5th Ave, seeing the Rockettes perform at Radio City Hall, eating their hearts out in NY pizza, bagels, and hot dogs, they strolled through Central Park before heading to dinner and a Broadway show. On the chilly and still night, at a quiet bench on a hill, Evan got down on one knee and asked Janelli if she would make him the luckiest man on Earth. In awe and full of excitement and love, Janelli said “yes!” and here we are, now happily counting down the days until they say I do!
