High Altitude

Here are some helpful hints: Take it Easy! Over-exerting yourself will make it harder to adjust to the elevation.Consider flying in a day early and staying in Denver one night to help acclimate your body before you make the ascent to 9000ft. Stay Hydrated, drink plenty of water! Avoid sugary or caffeinated drinks, they can dehydrate you. Eat Right:Avoid salty foods. High potassium foods such as bananas, avocados, or granola mix with dried fruit can help balance salt consumption. Climate-CO mountains can be unpredictable. Plan for both sun and chill. Bring extra layers, skin protection, lip balm, and sunglasses. Consult a doctor- to get the OK, especially if you have any medical conditions. The alcohol, tobacco, and sleeping pills can make altitude sickness symptoms worse.Of course,it's hard not to indulge yourself when celebrating! Specific symptoms of Altitude Sickness: 1 Headache 2 Nausea 3 Dizzy 4 Fatigue 5 Shortness of breath 6 Faster heart rate 7 Trouble sleeping 8 Loss of appetite
