Information on traveling to and from Capestrano.

Travel Note

Flights

You can either fly into the Rome (Roma Fiumicino) or the Pescara Airport. -Rome: More accessible if flying from USA. ~2.5hr drive from Rome to Capestrano. -Pescara: If coming from USA, you have to self-transfer in a European city (London, Barcelona, Milan, etc.). If you try to do one trip from USA to Pescara, the flights will be very expensive. You have to first get yourself to one of the cities that has flights to Pescara, then book another flight. Within Europe, these flights are less than $100. The Pescara airport is much smaller and easier to navigate, and it is ~40 min drive from Capestrano.

Travel Note

Renting a Car in Roma Fiumicino

Keep in mind, a lot of the roads will be narrow, so smaller cars are better. You can rent either manual or automatic, but manual will be cheaper and more common. Research ahead of time where your rental car desk will be. We found that some of the smaller companies are tucked away in a parking garage. We highly recommend taking the toll road (A24 and A25/E80)! Otherwise your drive will be much longer and complicated... Trust us, we've tried the non-toll routes and it wasn't fun. Expect to pay about 20 Euros each way. It is easier if you have cash on you.

Travel Note

Renting a Car in Pescara

This is a much smaller airport, so the rental car desks will be directly outside of where you exit security. We highly recommend taking the toll road (A25/E80). Expect to pay about 5 Euros in tolls. It is easier to have the cash on you.

Travel Note

Taking the Bus

We have not personally ridden the bus, but we are told that it is a very common way to travel to and from the airport. If you are interested in taking the bus, message us and we can help figure it out together. Information we do have: -TUA bus goes directly through the Capestrano town center. -Ride is about 2.5 hrs -Tickets cost about 13 Euros, but you may have to connect which would be an additional time/cost -Name of station for the Rome airport: Roma-Fiumicino -Name of station for Pescara airport: Pescara Aeroporto d'Abruzzo -Name of station for Capestrano: Pratola P.-casello

Travel Note

AirBnB's

Since Capestrano is a small village, housing is limited! We will reach out separately to all groups to make sure they have somewhere to stay. Please message us if you have any questions!
