In 2016 Jacqueline was living with Jonathan, Lauren's cousin and Jacqueline's friend, in a rental on the westside of Albuquerque lovingly called "the condo" by all who visited. One night, one of these visitors happened to be Lauren. Jacqueline immediately inquired to Jonathan, "why didn't you tell me you had a beautiful cousin who also happens to date women?!" Lauren and Jacqueline immediately hit it off and would stay up late talking to each other on the patio of the condo. It was through these conversations that they uncovered just how much they had in common and the mutual crush grew stronger and stronger, but neither of us made a move, for a dumb fear it wouldn't be reciprocated. Finally, at Jacqueline's birthday celebration December 2017 (which also happened to be Lauren's birthday because they are one day apart) while dancing with Lauren on a rooftop bar and the power of liquid courage Jacqueline finally kissed Lauren. It felt like a scene in a movie - where everything around you stops and it was just us. Even after that, it wasn't until May of 2018 that we went on our first date at the botanical gardens, we talked for hours, and ended up spending pretty much three days together. June 14th 2018 Lauren asked Jacqueline to be her girlfriend and we've been together ever since. The relationship has been through many houses and most notably a move from New Mexico to Oregon where we have been living since April of 2022. On our five year anniversary Lauren arranged an amazing surprise proposal while we were visiting New Mexico and while enjoying a picnic she asked to make it official - and Jacqueline said yes!
