When Jacob was 9 years old, he started going to summer camp at Camp For All as a Camp Star Trails camper. Camp Star Trails is for MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital patients and their siblings. Jacob and his sister, Emily, went to camp while Emily received treatment as an osteosarcoma patient. They attended camp together for 5 years. When Emilie was 17 years old, she became a volunteer at Camp For All as a Camp Spike 'n' Wave counselor. Camp Spike 'n' Wave is run by Epilepsy Foundation Texas for kids with epilepsy and other seizure disorders. Emilie continued to volunteer for Camp Spike 'n' Wave each summer, becoming a head counselor the next year and an assistant director two years later. After her freshman year at Texas A&M, Emilie started working at Camp For All as a summer program staff member and weekend staff member. Their worlds collided in 2017 when Jacob returned to Camp For All as an intern. He wanted to give back to the place that had given him and his sister so much when they were younger. Emilie and Jacob met when Emilie was working a weekend and Jacob was training as a new staff member. They hit it off immediately and went on their first date at Chuy’s about a month later. Emilie continued to work weekends and summers at Camp For All until the end of the summer of 2019. Jacob continued working as a program supervisor until the fall of 2020. And the rest is history...
