In Charleston, The Ordinary is a fancy seafood and oyster bar centered on traditional Southern hospitality with coastal Carolina charm. Guests to The Ordinary have the privilege of dining in a historical building that has been altered just slightly to accommodate the American brasserie it currently holds. High energy atmosphere, detailed service and great food and drink pairings make an excellent meal. The menu at The Ordinary is based largely off of market availability from the local Charleston fishermen. Some classic favorites include East Coast oysters, fish chowder, American caviar and whole roasted flounder. Each day of the week features a different dish on special.
Rainbow Row is the name for a series of colorful historic houses in Charleston, South Carolina. The houses are located north of Tradd St. and south of Elliot St. on East Bay Street. It is referred to as Rainbow Row for the pastel colors used to paint all of the houses. It is a common tourist attraction and is one of the most photographed parts of Charleston. After the Civil War, this area of Charleston devolved into near slum conditions. In the early 1900s, Dorothy Porcher Legge purchased a section of these houses numbering 99 through 101 East Bay and began to renovate them. She chose to paint these houses pink based on a colonial Caribbean color scheme. Other owners and future owners followed suit, creating the “rainbow” of pastel colors present today.

When local entrepreneurs Taylor Grant and Robbie Marty stepped into the old “Touch of Class” jazz club on Meeting Street, they immediately felt like they stepped back in time. They made a commitment to maintain the best elements from the original atmosphere. At the bar, they’ve preserved the same row of vintage brass and green velvet bar stools and glossy black tile that sparkles with the light of chandeliers. Velvet curtains surround the stage, as the disco ball casts patterns of light onto the dance floor, while comfortable booths for sipping signature cocktails beckon you to stay and relax.
