July 10th, 2007: Five minutes into our freshmen orientation as Hawks at St. Joe’s, Marissa’s mom, Kim, held the elevator door open and introduced us. (Good thing she did, because we probably wouldn’t have struck up a conversation without her). We quickly discovered we were in the same orientation group and spent the next two days talking about where we grew up, what high school was like for us, and what common interests we had. When we were forced to choose partners for a three-legged-race, obviously we chose each other. Makes sense - Marissa is 5’2 and Jackie is 5’11 - how could we not win? One month later: We both found out (over Facebook messenger, of course) that we were assigned to live on the same floor of the same dorm that neither of us applied to. Even though we weren’t thrilled about the dorm (it was allegedly haunted), we were both so relieved to have each other there. Sixteen years later: We couldn’t be luckier that our friendship turned into something more. We both moved to Philly, adopted each other’s friends as our own, still have the strongest bond with our college friends (obligatory Wolfpack shoutout!), have taken countless trips (including Maine), bought a house, have the most amazing pets, and became part of each other’s families. June 28th, 2024: There’s no better way to celebrate our history and our future together than by spending our wedding day with the people we love. See you on the dance floor!
