Guatapé is a very popular tourist attraction for not just foreigners, but Colombians as well. In Guatapé, there is a huge rock called La Piedra Del Peñol (The Rock of Guatape) which consists of 742 stairs to get to the top for stunning views. Along with this, people often take a boat ride through the Guatapé Reservoir, and enjoy walking the colorful streets of the town. It is a two hours away from Medellin.
Jardín is an Andean town in northwest Colombia, known for its brightly painted houses, colorful floral displays and milk candies. The main plaza, El Libertador Park, features rose gardens, a central fountain and the twin-towered, neo-Gothic Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, with views from its bell tower. People usually sight-see, do a coffee tour, or if you're feeling adventurous, theres a tour for a 4 hour hike to a waterfall you can swim in. Jardin is about 3 hours away from Medellin. If you're interested in staying there, a day trip can be pretty exhausting since its 6 hours of travel round-trip. When Aaron and I went, we stayed for one night. We took a bus from Medellin ($20 USD - Bus: Rapido Ochoa) (lots of leg room) and booked an airbnb right near the center of town for $65. We left the next day on the same bus. Santa Fe de Antioquia is a town in northwest Colombia. It’s known for its colonial buildings, cobbled lanes and tamarind candies. It's a nice little town to visit, and about an hour and a half away from Medellin. It's not as nice as Jardin, but a lot closer and a day trip is enough for this little town.
