For anyone that knows us, you know how competitive we both are and how much we love sports, so it should come as no surprise that we met playing dodgeball! We first met in Winter 2016 on the random dodgeball team at River City Sports. While the sparks weren't flying right away, we both enjoyed each others company on game days. Over the next few months, a mutual friend of ours kept saying how we would be perfect for each other but the time just wasn't right as Alex was in a relationship. That same friend kept trying to work his magic on us and as the close of 2016 happened, he convinced Krista to join the dodgeball team Alex was the Captain of for the 2017 Winter season. This time, Alex being newly single, Krista jumped on the chance to get to know him better. We bonded over our love of sports, social personalities and any excuse to grab happy hour after work. After a few months of talking, we made it Facebook official after a Shamrock the Block party and way too many Irish Car bombs! Thanks Hanny for letting us share your birthday as our dating anniversary!
After a stressful few months of pandemic life, we decided to go away for a nice weekend in the mountains to drink some wine and enjoy some beautiful views of the blue ridge mountains. After we returned from our mountain trip, Alex suprised Krista by taking her out to one of our favorite outdoor restuarants on the James River, The Boathouse at Rockett’s Landing. While waiting for our dinner resevation, Alex suggested taking a walk along the water. While walking along the river path around sunset, talking about how beaituful the area is, Alex got down on one knee to ask Krista to marry him! After Krista removed her fogged up glasses and really got to see it was all real, she said YES!
