It's a summer wedding in Mexico - we know it's going to be hot and we want everyone to be comfortable. This is not a black tie wedding. Girls: Think beachy, fun, flowy, colorful - whatever you're comfortable in! On the formal end, but not black tie. Try to avoid high heels unless they are block heels or wedges. The venue is built into a cliffside so there are a lot of stairs. Guys: Formal Guayaberas or a suit - whatever you prefer.
Just going to go ahead and apologize - we're so sorry it has been such a pain to plan travel & book decent flights. Full disclosure - when we picked Ixtapa as our destination there were nonstop United flights to and from Houston everyday. We're just as frustrated as you are, but unfortunately we can't control commercial airlines. If you're having trouble booking airfare or have any questions about getting here please reach out to either of us. We're more than happy to help. We fully acknowledge the time, energy, frustration and effort everyone is putting in to get here and we appreciate it SO much - more than you know. Please bare with us and know that there's a huge margarita waiting for you when you arrive! Thank you all again, so much.
We would recommend having some pesos. Pesos are used in the cabs and shops. Most shops have a credit card machine, but not all of them. $1 US is somewhere between 18-20 Pesos, but check before you head to Mexico.
Unfortunately, no. Cala de Mar is beautifully built into a cliffside so that it looks like part of the natural landscape. The waves crash pretty intensely into the cliff, making swimming in the ocean impossible. However, there are two amazing pools with beautiful ocean views, cabanas in the sun and shade and an attentive waitstaff. There are also private plunge pools in each room, with heating abilities. You can ask the front desk to heat your in-room pool.
