Our first date was at San Diego's infamous Balboa Park. We felt an instant and natural connection that made our date memorable and exciting. We explored the Botanical Gardens, the Organ Pavilion, and the Museum of Photographic Arts, where we found a bright red couch to sit on and get to know one another. We sat on the couch for what felt like hours-- telling stories, finding way too many coincidental similarities, and belly-laughing until we cried. It was a simple day, but one that held a lot of meaning. And so our love story begins.
For our four year anniversary, Kyle took me on an amazing day trip to Pala Mountains so we could go gem mining. We shoveled and sifted our way through loads of dirt, mud, and rocks in search of finding crystals to take home with us. After a few hours of digging, it was time for an ATV tour of the property. The owner of the property offered to take us as his special guests for the day, so without hesitation we got in and sped up the mountain, passing the rest of the group. We got to the very top that overlooked beautiful desert mountains and mines, taking in the view. The owner asked if we wanted to explore inside a mine (little did I know that this was a VIP experience not offered to the public that Kyle had set up upon booking), and proceeded to give us hard hats with head lamps to put on before entering. He took us back in the cave and gave us history on the mine and the crystals found there. He then took a Watermelon Tourmaline crystal (a rare gem) that he had found that morning, out of his pocket to give to me. As I was mesmerized by this shiny gem, he walked out of the cave, so I turned around. Right behind me was Kyle down on a knee, with a geode crystal box opening to a beautiful diamond ring!!! "Megan...Will you be my wife?" Of course, I said "YES" with overflowing joy and excitement. I found a real gem in that mine, and it had my name all over it! And the rest is history (in the making).
