The year was 2020, and the world was still in lock down. The first year of covid had managed to put a damper on 2020, but after a seemingly never ending series of swipes and small talk, a positive covid test delay, and many text messages later, a bright spot was evoked; a first date was realized. Behind masks and copious amounts of hand sanitizer, two Marquette University graduates, Kyle (BSME '16) & Caroline (BSN '19), met in Milwaukee to share their love of tacos and margaritas, and Marquette with one another. The rest, they say, is history.
It was a picturesque fall day in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The warm autumn colors had hit their peak and displayed beautifully amongst the clear sky. Kyle lured Caroline to Lake Geneva for a fall brunch after stopping to take car pictures amongst the fall foliage. The location chose for its' beauty, it's significance to Kyle, and Caroline's love of water. The location of a wedding they had both been at where Kyle's Like began to turn into Love. The two would embark upon a walk upon the Shore Path in the crisp fall air, Caroline not knowing that Kyle already had done his homework the week prior while she slept after work. As the two made their way back to the car past the dozens of other couples out for a stroll, Kyle pulled Caroline into alcove of trees against the lake. Time stopped for 5 minutes. The birds had stopped chirping, the boats disappeared into the distance, with only the sound of leaves rustling around the two. Not a single person walked past as they had their moment by the lake. Kyle dropped to a knee and presented Caroline with a ring box and a question. She said "yes"!
